As a reference in medium and high complexity in northeastern Pará, the Public Regional Hospital of Caetés (HRPC), in the municipality of Capanema, is part of the state network of units that carry out awareness-raising for organ donation in Pará. From September 25 until Wednesday, October 1, the management of the unit promoted the week "Green September - Donating is sowing a new life," with the aim of strengthening the culture of solidarity within the hospital environment.

The health education action was conducted by the Intra-Hospital Commission for Organ and Tissue Donation for Transplantation (CIHDOTT), with support from the Sustainability Commission and the Humanization Working Group (GTH). The event brought together hundreds of collaborators, users and companions, managers, and leaders of the hospital, and featured a varied program of interest to the community of these audiences.

According to nurse Elivaldo Júnior, coordinator of CIHDOTT, this type of action brings users and companions closer to the theme of organ donation in a welcoming and humanized way. "In hemodialysis, we distributed cards written by patients revealing dreams and wishes that would only be possible with a transplant, generating strong awareness," he highlighted.

The professional also emphasizes that at the Exam Reception and polyclinic, the team was able to communicate in a simple and direct way, generating greater understanding and awakening hope. "This contact helped to reduce doubts, demystify the donation process, and strengthen trust in the hospital."

Among the users benefited from the educational campaign on organ donation is user Paulo Sérgio Rodrigo da Silva, 53 years old, who receives assistance at the Hemodialysis Center in the Polyclinic, which is part of the Caetés Hospital Complex.

He highlights the importance of the initiative to encourage family and friends to declare their willingness to donate organs, including a kidney, and does not know how to proceed. "Unfortunately, there are still many people without this life-saving information. For sure, we even feel a little relieved, right? Because we depend on dialysis, and we think it’s already the end. But it’s not. Then this information comes and fills us with hope and faith that everything will change with a kidney transplant; or for those who need a transplant of other organs. Congratulations on the initiative," emphasized the driver who resides in Timboteua.

The assistant manager of the Public Regional Hospital of Caetés, Eduardo Machado, emphasized the relevance of the mobilization to strengthen the cause. "The realization of events like this has a strategic role in raising awareness in society about the importance of organ donation. In addition to expanding knowledge on the subject, it helps to dispel prejudices and stimulate reflection on a solidarity gesture capable of saving lives."

Organ donation - In August 2025, the hospital carried out its first organ procurement, a historic milestone for the institution and the region. For nurse Elivaldo Jr, the procedure demonstrates the technical and organizational capacity of the hospital to integrate into the state transplant network of Pará.

"The Green September campaign reinforces that organ donation is not just a medical act, but a collective construction, which depends on welcoming, humanization, and engagement from all sectors," stressed nurse Elivaldo Júnior.

Program - The opening of the campaign, on September 25, included the symbolic planting of a tree in front of the hospital, as well as green lighting on the facade of the hospital unit, symbolically announcing the HRPC's adherence to Green September, a national movement to raise awareness about the importance of organ donation, which this year also focused on the social inclusion of People with Disabilities (PCD).

The second day of action (26/9) was aimed at users and companions with activities carried out in public service areas, such as Exam Receptions, Polyclinic, and Hemodialysis sector, where attendees interacted with the dynamics of the wish cards, conducted by members of CIHDOTT and GTH.

On the 29th and 30th, lectures were held in the Auditorium on "The importance of CIHDOTT's role," "The importance of organ donation - And the role of the hospital and engagement of the sectors." The themes were conducted by the CIHDOTT team.

On Wednesday (1st), the closing of the campaign featured the presentation of the results of the organ donation awareness action at the Caetés Hospital Complex (CHC), highlighting the national and state panorama of donation, awareness dynamics, and reinforcing institutional commitment.
