Abner, 5 years old, came with his father, Murilo Henrique, a military police officer, and was enchanted by the Graesp helicopter

The Air Group of Public Safety (Graesp) held, this Saturday (4), the 6th edition of the program "Wings of Hope" which aims to bring the community closer to the group. More than 250 children from the Peace Factories of Jurunas, Terra-Firme, Bengui, and Cabanagem, from the Metropolitan Region of Belém, along with social organizations and the community in general, participated in the morning of entertainment and fun.

The program included activities such as zip-lining and false baiana, animal exhibitions, and activities from the Environmental Police Battalion and the Canine Action Battalion (BAC), both from the Military Police, and the kids also enjoyed the stalls with sweets and snacks.

“When I grow up, I want to be a pilot and ride in a plane every day,” said little Abner, five years old. For the first time, he entered a helicopter, accompanied by his parents, and had fun with the attractions offered by the Group, and with the experience of seeing how pilots operate the aircraft.

“A wonderful opportunity, especially since we do not have direct contact with the state air group, and being able to come with my son and experience this moment with my family. He loves to see the planes, and who knows, this might awaken in him the desire to be a real pilot,” said Murilo Henrique, military police officer and Abner's father.

Some of the children were visiting the Graesp facilities for the first time, and the enchantment with the aircraft, which are involved in rescue operations, police operations, and aeromedical assistance, was one of the main sources of fun. The children had the chance to get up close, as well as the opportunity to enter a helicopter for the first time.

Mariana, eight years old, had this chance provided by the Peace Factory of Terra-Firme and had fun with the games, and also with Mel, the dog from the Canine Action Battalion (BAC) of the Military Police, who filled the children's morning with cuteness.

Wings of Hope

In six years of "Wings of Hope", more than 2,000 children have been able to learn about and be inspired by the programs of the Group. The project is held close to Children's Day (on October 12), and provides opportunities for direct contact with aviation to awaken in the little ones the desire to become aviators in their future careers.

Director of Graesp, Colonel Armando Gonçalves, takes pride in the program that helps in connecting with the community

“The Air Group is promoting today the 6th edition of Wings of Hope, which aims to bring together the most disadvantaged communities, schools, and now also the children and projects involving the Peace Factories, of our group. In this way, we can stimulate these children and develop their interest in education, teaching, learning, and the world of aviation. Who knows, we might awaken in them future pilots,” emphasized the director of the Air Group, Colonel Armando Gonçalves.
