KDaBerlinda 2025: app reaches its 14th edition focusing on safety and interaction
In real time, the app developed by Prodepa combines tradition with technology and helps thousands of Catholics locate the berlinda during the Great Círio

Developed by the State Information and Communication Technology Company (Prodepa), the app "KDaBerlinda" allows the faithful to locate in real time the Berlinda that carries the Image of Our Lady of Nazaré during the 14 official pilgrimages of the Círio. The device is increasingly used. In 2024, from October 1 to 31, the period that encompassed the Nazarene festivities, there were a total of 132 thousand downloads of the app on the Android system, representing an increase of 33.12% compared to 2023.
On the iOS system, there were 54 thousand downloads, a significant growth of 30.69% compared to the previous year. With these numbers, we total 186 thousand downloads in total, consequently the app during the Círio "KDaBerlinda" ranked among the most downloaded in its category in Brazil.

For the 2nd consecutive year, the app is the official geolocation tool of the Círio, further consolidating the partnership between the Government of the State of Pará, through Prodepa, and the Directorate of the Nazaré Festival (DFN). The partnership has been in place since the app's creation in 2012, with an interruption in 2020 and 2021 due to the COVID-19 health crisis that required social isolation, years in which all processions were suspended.
Users have numerous additional resources available beyond the location of the Berlinda, such as: real-time messages from the pilgrimages, photos, video gallery, useful links that lead to live broadcasts from major broadcasters, themed selfie frames to share on social media, a portfolio of tourist attractions, posters of the Círio from 2011 to 2025, among various other functions that enrich the emotional, sensory, and religious experience of users.
In the app, the location of the Berlinda is displayed through a navigation map that shows the route and reference points along the way. "Using GPS technology, the developed georeferencing solution collects coordinates in real time, through the transmission of the mobile phone network to the State Data Center located at Prodepa, which processes and converts the complete trail of all the movement of the berlinda into a database. This year, Prodepa will again have the partnership of the Claro operator, which will provide data transmission support," informs systems analyst Flávio Alves, who has been responsible for the project at Prodepa for 14 years.

App connects religious tradition and technology
The app, which connects religious tradition with the convenience of technology, brings new features that enhance the experience of devotees and reinforce the strategic nature of the system.
The app also provides a push notification updating everything that happens during the journey of the Image of Our Lady of Nazaré, without the need to unlock the phone. "The app also provides a redirect link for live streaming, through Prodepa's streaming, to TV and Radio Cultura, as well as TV Nazaré, where the user can follow all the broadcasts of the processions being televised by the state broadcaster," highlights Flávio Alves, systems analyst and Division Manager at Prodepa.

Tool assists tourists and becomes digital heritage of the Círio
With the proximity of COP30 (30th United Nations Conference on Climate Change), it is expected that the city will see an even greater influx of tourists, especially foreigners. Therefore, due to this real possibility, the new 2025 version of the app will feature an expanded area dedicated to information about the city and the main tourist attractions of Belém. "In addition, the app now offers a history of departure and arrival times of the Berlinda in all the pilgrimages from previous years (since 2012), based on Points of Interest (POIs) previously mapped in the city, providing a detailed overview of past editions," says the analyst.
When accessing the app, users will be able to use frames and take personalized selfies to register the unique moment during the pilgrimages; download images of posters from previous editions of the festival; access the schedule with departure and arrival locations; procession and official pilgrimage times; translation into English; in addition to accessing a gallery with photos of the festival.
Flávio Alves states that the app is not just a location tool, but connects the faithful, democratizes access to devotion, assists the management of the Directorate of the Nazaré Festival, providing real and strategic data to all public security agencies and entities involved in the largest religious manifestation in Pará. "Today, KDaBerlinda is already a digital heritage of the Círio," he affirms.
