A meeting at Codec's headquarters reinforced the State's commitment to support the productive sector, promote legal security, and strengthen the Pará industry

The government of Pará, through the Pará Economic Development Company (Codec) and the State Secretariat for Economic Development, Mining and Energy (Sedeme), received, on Tuesday (7), representatives from Dow Chemical Company for a meeting held at Codec's headquarters in Belém.
The meeting aimed to discuss the company's investments and activities in the State, as well as address the importance of the ongoing request for the use of accumulated ICMS credits, a benefit provided for in the tax incentive policy of the government of Pará.

The agenda also addressed topics related to the maintenance of energy incentives and the environmental clearance of the company's operations, located in the municipality of Breu Branco, in southeastern Pará.
The discussions reaffirmed the State's commitment to act in an integrated manner with the productive sector, seeking to ensure predictability and efficiency in the conduct of industrial development policies.

Established in Pará since 1988, Dow has benefited from state incentives since 2016, a policy that has contributed to the continuity and strengthening of its activities.
The industrial plant employs about 300 direct employees and maintains an annual production of 34 thousand tons of metallic silicon, an essential input for the technology and clean energy sectors.
With operations based on renewable energy and prioritizing local suppliers, Dow sources 90% of its raw materials from within Pará, strengthening the regional production chain.

The company also highlighted its social and environmental actions, which have already benefited approximately 7 thousand people and total more than R$ 1.9 million in investments.
The demands presented will be analyzed by the technical teams of Codec and Sedeme, in coordination with the competent agencies, to ensure agility and compliance in administrative and tax processes.
The Director of Investment Attraction at Codec, Manoel Ibiapina, emphasized that the government of Pará has prioritized dialogue and active listening as the basis for economic development policy.

"Our role is to identify opportunities and articulate solutions in partnership with other institutions. This joint construction is what transforms potential into real results, in jobs, income, and prosperity," he stated.
The Deputy Secretary of Sedeme, Carlos Ledo, emphasized that coordinated action among state agencies enhances investor security and confidence.
"The government of Pará has shown commitment to efficiency, sustainability, and dialogue. This partnership between Sedeme and Codec proves that the State is prepared to support large enterprises and strengthen its economic base in a balanced and responsible manner," he pointed out.
For the Government Affairs Manager at Dow Chemical, Alexandre Amissi, the continuity of the partnership with the government of Pará is essential for the company's good performance in the State.
"Dow believes in the potential of Pará and recognizes the government's effort to understand and support the needs of the industry. We want to continue contributing to growth and innovation, generating opportunities and development for the people of Pará," he stated.

The meeting consolidated the government of Pará's commitment to a competitive, sustainable, and transparent business environment, strengthening the State as a national reference in attracting and retaining industrial enterprises.
Also participating in the meeting were Codec's New Business Manager, Sabrina Sena, the Foreign Trade Manager, Eduardo Rodrigues, and consultant Laís Guimarães from BMJ Consultores Associados.
