PMPA mobilizes a large operation to ensure safety at Círio 2025
The operation includes everything from the safety of the pilgrims on BR-316 to Recírio, concluding the festivities on October 27

The Military Police of the State of Pará (PMPA) has initiated Operation Círio 2025, which runs from October 6 to 27. The plan, approved by the PMPA's commander-in-chief, Colonel Neves, and coordinated by the General Operations Department (DGO), details the actions of all units of the corporation during the festivities in honor of Our Lady of Nazaré, one of the largest religious events in the world.
The planning involves preventive and ostensive actions, aiming to ensure the safety of around 2 million pilgrims and maintain public order during the official and parallel events that make up the "Nazarene Quarter." The operation includes everything from the safety of the pilgrims on BR-316 to Recírio, concluding the festivities on October 27.
According to the head of the DGO, Colonel Mariúba, the structure set up for Círio reflects the commitment and experience of the corporation in large events. "Operation Círio is the result of meticulous planning, built in an integrated manner with all commands and units of the PMPA. There are hundreds of men and women dedicated to ensuring that each pilgrim can exercise their faith safely and peacefully. It is a mission that requires technique, sensitivity, and deep respect for the devotion of the people of Pará."
The plan mobilizes all units of the PMPA, including the Capital Policing Commands (CPC I and II), Metropolitan Region (CPRM), Special Missions Command (CME), Specialized Policing Command (CPE), and Environmental Policing Command (CPA), as well as cadets from the Military Police Academy and intelligence and communication teams.

Among the events that require a larger contingent are:
Road Pilgrimage – 24 km route between Ananindeua and Icoaraci, with an expected 250,000 participants.
River Pilgrimage – 18.5 km route between Icoaraci and Belém, with about 50,000 people.
Trasladação – night procession with an expected 1.3 million faithful over 51 km.
Círio de Nazaré – the main procession on Sunday (12), gathering approximately 2 million devotees in the streets of the capital.
Each phase of the operation has fixed and mobile command centers, integrated with the Public Security Secretariat (Segup), in addition to aerial, river, and motorized reinforcement.
Strategic Actions - The PMPA will operate with roadblocks, foot patrols, river policing, motorized and mounted policing, as well as monitoring via radio and cameras.
During Círio and Trasladação, policing will be distributed at strategic points on Nazaré, Magalhães Barata, Gentil Bittencourt, Almirante Barroso avenues and in areas close to the Basilica Sanctuary.
The Special Missions Command, with specialized troops such as Bope and BAC, will be on standby to act in emergency situations.

For the commander-in-chief of the PMPA, Colonel Neves, Operation Círio represents "a commitment to the faith and safety of the people of Pará," reinforcing the importance of integrated work among security forces.
"The detailed planning ensures that each garrison is equipped, monitored, and strategically positioned to guarantee that the greatest symbol of faith of the people of Pará proceeds with tranquility, order, and devotion," concluded the commander-in-chief.
Even with the large contingent engaged in Operation Círio 2025, the Military Police of Pará maintains the normal functioning of its daily and routine operations throughout the State. Actions such as Stronger Police, Safe School, Peace Dawn, Total Force, among others, continue to be carried out in parallel, ensuring the ostensive presence of the Corporation on the streets. The reinforcement directed to Círio was strategically planned, without compromising the daily safety of the population, ensuring that preventive policing continues to operate permanently and effectively in all regions of Pará.
