The Maximino Porpino Filho Stadium, the traditional “Modelão”, in Castanhal, is closer to being returned to the community with a modern structure and professional standard. Reconstructed by the Government of Pará, through the State Secretariat of Sports and Leisure (Seel), the project is already 75% complete and represents an investment of around R$ 12 million.

Among the main work fronts, the construction and reconstruction of bleachers, boxes, snack bars, restrooms, locker rooms, ticket offices, administrative building, support rooms, and parking stand out, in addition to the works that ensure accessibility, comfort, and safety for fans and athletes.

Another highlight of this stage is the new grass, which received Esmeralda grass and a drainage system designed to ensure excellent performance and resistance, even during periods of heavy rain.

The system was developed with cutting-edge technology, in a “fishbone” format, which facilitates water drainage and prevents accumulation on the surface. The structure includes surface drainage channels, precise leveling of the sub-base with gravel, and a sand base, ensuring a regular and safe field.

The Esmeralda grass was chosen for its resistance to heavy foot traffic, quick recovery, and adaptation to the Amazonian climate, keeping the field green, uniform, and with excellent aesthetic quality throughout the year.

Historical and social importance - The head of Seel, Cássio Andrade, emphasizes that the investment reaffirms the Government of Pará's commitment to valuing sports throughout the State. “This investment is a commitment from the Government to offer quality and dignity for athletes, fans, and the entire community that frequents the space. We are rescuing the historical and social importance of this stadium, which has always been the stage for great moments in Pará's sports,” says the secretary.

For physical education teacher Gilson Pereira, a resident of Castanhal, the reconstruction of the Modelão goes far beyond physical modernization. According to him, “with the stadium rebuilt, Castanhal now offers its sports community a dignified, safe, and modern structure. This means better game quality, more comfort for fans, and more encouragement for youth,” he emphasizes.

Amateur player Rui Guilherme Cardoso, who has attended several matches at the venue, also celebrates the progress of the works. “The Modelão is part of the city's history. Seeing this space being reconstructed with such care, especially with the new grass, is a source of pride for all of us,” he highlights.

A resident for 35 years, professor Valdo Moura reinforces the symbolism of the delivery, stating that “the expectation is that the new Modelão will put Castanhal in the spotlight in the regional sports scene, with a structure worthy of our ‘Model City’.”
