Marajó Communities Receive Donation of Fish Seized by Base Antônio Lemos
Four tons of pirarucu seized last Sunday (8) by agents from Base Antônio Lemos in Breves were distributed to the riverside communities in the region.

On the morning of this Wednesday (8), the teams from Base Antônio Lemos, located in the Breves strait in Marajó, distributed four tons of pirarucu seized last Sunday (5) during a regulatory action in the river network of Marajó. The fish was distributed among the residents of riverside communities in the region. More than a thousand families benefited from the fish.
The seized material was taken to the municipal health surveillance, where it was analyzed and released for distribution. Mrs. Juliana do Amaral, 72 years old, a resident of Cuxiú Island in Melgaço for 48 years, was one of the beneficiaries of the fish. According to her, the presence of the Base in the region has greatly improved the lives of the riverside population of Marajó.

“This Base, since it arrived here, has greatly improved our lives. We lived in a difficult situation, criminals burned our things, beat people, we were humiliated. But now everything has changed, we have peace and justice in our land, and we are always helped, like now, when I will take this fish home and prepare it for my family,” said the housewife.
The head of Segup, Uálame Machado, highlighted the actions of the agents, the initiative to distribute the seized fish in the Village of Antônio Lemos, ensuring quality food for families, and the importance of regulation and sustainable management of natural resources in the Marajó region.

“All the material seized by our team of agents in one of the continuous regulatory actions in the river network of Marajó was distributed among the communities, after passing through the analysis of the municipal health surveillance, so that everyone could receive the fish with the guarantee of being able to feed their families responsibly. Our role is also to bring the community closer and ensure that environmental resources are preserved, especially for these communities surrounding our Base,” said the Secretary of Public Security and Social Defense, Ualame Machado.

Regulation and Seizure
In this joint action, the agents of the Public Security River Group (Gflu) in partnership with a team from the Military Police conducted an approach on a barge in the river network of Breves on the afternoon of last Sunday (8). The vessel, originating from the city of Manaus, was headed for Belém. The agents identified, among the loads of a truck, with the help of the sniffer dog “Black,” a large quantity of dried pirarucu, totaling 4 tons, which was being transported illegally, without the presentation of legal documentation. The owner of the truck was taken to the Civil Police unit of the Base for the necessary procedures.
