Polyclinic of Santarém enters the final phase with 92% of the works completed
Unit of the Government of Pará will offer 36 medical specialties and high-complexity exams for the population of the Western region
With 92% of the services completed, the construction of the Polyclinic of Santarém, in western Pará, enters the final phase. The space, which occupies more than 2,000 square meters, will offer care in 36 medical specialties and high-complexity exams, such as tomography, magnetic resonance imaging, and X-rays. The investment from the state government in another important health unit exceeds R$ 25 million.

The construction is part of the state plan to expand access to specialized health care in all regions of Pará. The strategy decentralizes care, based on the model of the Metropolitan Polyclinic, delivered in Belém in 2020, and already in operation in the municipalities of Capanema, Tucuruí, Bragança, and Marabá, benefiting residents of northeastern and southeastern Pará.
Specialized care - In addition to consultations and exams, the Polyclinic of Santarém will have the Autism Spectrum Disorder Care Center (Natea), with reception rooms, multidisciplinary care, offices, a multipurpose room, and a sensory garden. The structure will also offer a spacious reception area, laboratories, multiprofessional offices, waiting rooms for up to 250 people, and exclusive environments for diagnosis and procedures.

“The delivery of the Polyclinic of Santarém represents a milestone for public health in the region. We are expanding the network of specialized care, ensuring more access, welcome, and resolution for the population of Baixo Amazonas. This is a commitment from the state government to the interiorization of health and the strengthening of SUS in Pará,” highlights the State Secretary of Public Health, Ivete Vaz.
The work is conducted by the State Secretariat of Public Works (Seop), and has guaranteed about 100 direct jobs in Santarém. For Secretary Ruy Cabral, the new unit will provide vital work in the region.
“We are moving towards the final stretch of the construction of the Polyclinic of Santarém, an important public facility that will improve people's access to specialized health care, with consultations and exams in one place. With this additional service, the Government of Pará contributes to improving the care of the public health network in the municipality and in the Baixo Amazonas Region,” states the head of Seop.
Qualification - Responsible for monitoring the construction, civil engineer Alisson Lobato emphasizes the team's commitment to executing the services, as well as the benefits that the restructuring will bring to the community. “We are rushing to ensure that the construction is in perfect condition, to serve the population in the best way. We are seeking modernity to provide the population with the best ease of entry, adequate reception, and environments with quality and comfort, so that everyone feels well welcomed,” informs the engineer.

Present since the beginning of the construction, worker Helder Silva, who got a job thanks to the construction, believes that the unit will make a difference for those in need of care in the public network. “I think it will help the city; it will be an improvement for health. People from other municipalities come here for care and sometimes did not have this specialized service. Now, it will be much better,” he states.
The Polyclinic will offer services exclusively through SUS (Unified Health System), with access by scheduling and referrals made by the units of the state network, according to the regulation flows. The unit will enable integrated care, avoiding travel to other municipalities and ensuring agility in the performance of exams and diagnoses.
