In one of the busiest periods in the state capital, Belém, the Secretary of Public Security and Social Defense, along with other agencies of the Security System, develops security actions during the pilgrimages and processions in honor of Our Lady of Nazaré. Through Operation Círio 2025, more than 12,000 agents from state, municipal, and federal spheres are already on the streets to ensure greater tranquility for pilgrims, tourists, and the general population during the events of the Nazarene Quarter.

“It is important that everyone can enjoy this moment with great tranquility, and for that, we are on the streets with one of the largest operations of the year for security, which is the Círio de Nazaré. Thus, everything that has been planned for months has as its main objective the fluidity and tranquility of the people walking in the streets, fulfilling their promises and accompanying the pilgrimages. We know that Círio is the moment of greatest communion for the people of Pará, and our job is to ensure that everyone can experience this moment safely to exercise their faith,” said the Secretary of Public Security of the state, Ualame Machado.

Services and assistance

To further reinforce security actions, the state government offers services along the main roads and streets of Belém, such as emergency and urgent assistance provided by security totems, which connect the population directly to the Integrated Operations Center, Ciop, via the 190 channel, which can also be accessed by phone call.

Security also includes the channels of 193, from the Fire Department, and regarding health assistance, the population can contact the number 192 of the Mobile Emergency Care Service (Samu).

Monitoring and incident reporting

Security will also provide a fixed assistance point operated by the Integrated Command and Control Mobile Center, CICC Mobile, installed on Avenida Nazaré with Travessa Quintino Bocaiúva, in Largo do Redondo. At the Integrated Center, security agents will be gathered, monitoring in real-time the main streets and avenues of the route of the main processions of Círio. Incident reports can also be made at the CICC Mobile, which will receive lost or misplaced items and documents. The belongings of individuals will subsequently be forwarded to the General Civil Police Station, to be claimed starting Tuesday (14), from 8 am to 5 pm.

Security teams will be present at observation points installed along the routes of the processions. Military Police and Military Fire Department agents will monitor the movement and provide assistance if necessary.

The agents will also be on foot, patrolling around areas of high concentration of people to ensure order and safety during the transfers.

“It is also important to highlight the personal care that those accompanying the processions should take to minimize incidents, as we will be in a context of crowds, where petty crimes can occur. Therefore, we suggest that people do not leave their personal belongings within reach of opportunistic situations, keep their bags closed, and walk with tranquility, experiencing this unique moment that is the Círio de Nazaré,” emphasized the head of Segup.

During moments of crowding, public safety recommends that people remain extra vigilant and maintain necessary personal care, such as keeping bags and backpacks always in front of their bodies. Keep cell phones and wallets in hard-to-reach places, avoiding easy-access pockets. Extra attention in crowded places. In case of help, seek the nearest police officer or agent from the Fire Department and Civil Defense; they will be on hand to ensure the safety and tranquility of all.
