On the morning of this Thursday (9), the Theodoro Braga Gallery, located in the basement of the Cultural Foundation of Pará (FCP), was the stage for a conversation circle about the exhibition 'Atravessamentos', by Pará artist Marcone Moreira, winner of the Branco de Melo Award 2025. The event took place right after the launch of the official catalog of the exhibition and was attended by the artist himself and the exhibition's curator, Marisa Mokarzel.

The meeting gathered students from the Visual Arts course at the University of the Amazon (Unama), in an initiative that aimed to bring the academic audience closer to the backstage and conceptual reflections behind contemporary artistic production.

For student Marcos Muniz, the experience was enriching, both academically and artistically. “It adds even more to our perspective as artists. I already knew Marcone's name, but I had never delved into his work. Having this direct conversation with the artist was very interesting, a rare opportunity,” he emphasized.

Responsible for bringing the students to the gallery, artist and professor Mariano Klautau Filho highlighted the importance of practical activities like this in the students' education. "I brought my class from the Art Criticism and Curation course, where we discuss both historical movements and contemporary production. Marcone's exhibition is a rich material to observe conceptual and formal issues. This experience concretely expands their repertoire,” he analyzed.

Curator Marisa Mokarzel also emphasized the pedagogical relevance of the event. “This type of meeting is essential. First, there is direct contact with the visuality of the work; then comes the understanding of the creative process, of the artist's thinking. All of this contributes to the student developing a more refined gaze on art and the world,” she pointed out.

During the conversation, Marcone Moreira shared details of his creative process and spoke about the importance of exchanging experiences with young artists: “Seeing the exhibition is one thing; understanding what is behind the production is another. In my case, the process involves travels, collections, experiences that directly affect the work. I wanted to bring these backstage to the students, to show that the studio is just one part. The journey to the work is as important as the final result.”

Marcone Moreira is the winner of the Branco de Melo Award 2025

The exhibition 'Atravessamentos' remains open to the public until October 17, from 8 am to 7 pm, at the Theodoro Braga Gallery. The show features paintings, wooden objects, and photographs inspired by the Amazonian naval universe, inviting visitors to reflect on displacements, borders, and sensory experiences related to the territory.
