Children's Day arrived early at the Autism Spectrum Disorder Care Center (Natea) of Policlínica Carajás Miguel Chamon, in Marabá, southeastern state. Throughout Thursday (9), the space transformed into a playful and welcoming environment, filled with colors, joy, and games that integrated learning, fun, and inclusion.

Edilene Rocha, 37, a resident of Marabá in the Carajás region, accompanied her 6-year-old son, Heitor Rocha, to the activities and was moved by the festive atmosphere. “These moments are important for his development. It’s beautiful to see the care and dedication of the team; here we truly feel love,” she highlighted.

With a curious gaze and a shy smile, Heitor summed up the day in a few words, but full of enthusiasm. Among games, music, and discoveries, he enjoyed every moment of the program. “It was the best day! I painted and played a lot,” he said.

Lúcia Silmara, also from Marabá, accompanied her daughter Isabeli Silva, 6, and emphasized the importance of the event. “We see the sparkle in the children's eyes. Natea has been a transformative space in my daughter's life. This type of action shows that the work here goes beyond treatment; it’s about love, welcome, and respect,” she stated.

Care in action

The program included drawing and painting workshops, educational games, group dynamics, and sensory activities, all aimed at stimulating learning and social interaction. Natea values the cognitive, emotional, and motor development of children, promoting experiences that unite education, inclusion, and affection.

The assistant manager of Policlínica, Alcileia Tartaglia, highlighted the importance of the initiative. “It was a very special day! We celebrated Children's Day with a lot of love, inclusion, and joy. This event was dedicated to our children at Natea, who teach us every day about sensitivity, purity, and the beauty of being unique,” she emphasized.

She added that the center plays a fundamental role in child development. “It’s gratifying to see the smiles and the sparkle in the children's eyes participating in the activities, showing that when there is love and respect, everyone can learn and have fun together. May we continue to build an inclusive world where every child is recognized and celebrated in their uniqueness,” she concluded.

Joabe Lopes, executive director of Policlínica, emphasized that actions like this reinforce the unit's commitment to humanized care and the appreciation of childhood. “Every activity carried out is an opportunity to strengthen bonds and show that inclusion can also be made with joy. Seeing the children's smiles is the best proof that we are on the right track,” he concluded.

In addition to the celebration, the event reinforced the importance of the integrated work of the multiprofessional team at Natea, managed by the Institute of Social and Environmental Health of the Amazon (ISSAA), in partnership with the State Department of Public Health (Sespa). This integration allows for more comprehensive intervention plans that consider not only neurological development but also the emotional, social, and motor needs of the child, strengthening the bond with the family.

How to access the service
To access NATEA services, families must seek a Basic Health Unit (UBS) in the municipality where they reside. After the first evaluation, the case is forwarded to the Municipal Regulation Center and then to the State Regulation System (SER), which directs the patient according to the identified clinical profile.
