Artran strengthens special inspection operation for Círio 2025
Agency intensifies actions at terminals and highways during the weekend of the largest pilgrimage in Pará to avoid overcrowding and irregularities in intermunicipal transport

The Regulatory and Control Agency for Public Transport Services (Artran) is carrying out, this Friday (10) and Saturday (11), the Operation Círio 2025, with full reinforcement in the inspection of road and waterway terminals throughout the State. The goal is to ensure safety, quality of service, and combat irregular transport during the period of significant movement of pilgrims and visitors to Belém.
“Artran will be present to ensure comfort and safety for those traveling during this period, but it is essential that the population stays alert and chooses only vehicles and vessels that are regularized. Our role is to ensure that transport operates within the regulations and that passengers have safety both on the way to and from home,” said Artran's General Director, Luciano Dias.
In road transport, teams are focusing inspection reinforcement at terminals in the capital and the interior, as well as strategic points on highways BR-316 (Castanhal) and PA-151 (Abaetetuba). Coordinator José Cruz explains that the actions focus on the increase in demand and ensuring that companies offer more schedules and vehicles during the festivities.
“Our teams are attentive to checking documentation, inspections, and the conditions of vehicles and vessels. The focus is to prevent accidents and curb overcrowding. On Monday (13), actions will concentrate only on road terminals, when the return of the pilgrims occurs,” he assures.

In water transport, the movement has been intense since the early hours of this Friday (10). Teams are operating at the Belém Waterway Terminal (THB), Amazonat and Expresso Barcarena ports, at Ver-o-Peso, Arapari, and Jarumã, in the Cidade Velha neighborhood, ports of Bernardo Sayão and in Icoaraci, at the Henvil port and the New Tourist Waterway Terminal of the district, in Belém.
“We are fully attentive to the arrivals of pilgrims and visitors. Each vessel must have a valid navigation safety certificate and be duly regulated by Artran. The inspection aims to protect lives,” explains Waldemar Frazão, coordinator of Water Transport (CTA).
The manager of Waterway Inspection, Celso Cruz, emphasizes that “this Saturday (11) and Sunday (12), there will be no direct inspection by Artran at the waterway terminals due to the Círio Fluvial and the main procession, periods when the Brazilian Navy assumes responsibility for navigation safety. On Monday (13), everything returns to normal. As it is an essential service, inspection will resume with the same rigor,” he concludes.

Inspection - Agents check the conditions of tires and windshields, seat belts, seats, and navigation safety certificates. Regularized vehicles and vessels are identified by official Artran stickers and stamped documents, which can be requested by passengers before boarding.
“The Agency's mission is to ensure safe, accessible, and quality public transport, especially at such a symbolic and busy time as the Círio de Nazaré,” points out the Director of Inspection at Artran, Wildson Mello.
