Waldemar Henrique Experimental Theater hosts 'Chiquita Dialogues', focusing on LGBTQIA+ issues
Event, which precedes the traditional Chiquita Festival, opens space for conversations about combating discrimination and the challenges of the community in Belém

The Waldemar Henrique Experimental Theater (TEWH) was the stage for the event 'Chiquita Dialogues' last Wednesday (8) and Thursday (9). The program, which precedes one of the most traditional festivals of the Nazareno season, proposes a space for debate and awareness on issues related to the LGBTQIA+ community.
The initiative broadens the perception of the event beyond its festive character, positioning itself as an act of affirmation and struggle for rights. Marcelo do Carmo, coordinator of TEWH, explains the proposal. "The Chiquita festival is not just a party where everyone goes to have fun, but there is another side of awareness. We are against LGBTQIA+phobia, we are against any kind of discrimination," he explains.

Led by the creator and coordinator of Chiquita, Eloy Iglesias, and with the participation of representatives from UFPA and civil society organizations, the meeting addresses topics such as ageism within the community and the experiences of LGBTQIA+ individuals in the capital of Pará. "The Chiquita Dialogues come precisely to discuss these topics and open space for important speeches," Marcelo adds, emphasizing the importance of creating a safe environment for the exchange of experiences.

The action reinforces the commitment of the Cultural Foundation of Pará (FCP) to promoting diversity and fostering relevant social debates through art and culture. As the main executing body of the state's cultural public policies, FCP seeks to ensure access to spaces and programs that reflect the plurality of Pará's society. FCP's actions can be followed on the website and social media of the institution.
