Children hospitalized at PSRM celebrate Children's Day with healthy snacks
Patients from the Pediatric Inpatient Unit participated in a workshop for preparing fruit salad and carrot cake with 75% cocoa chocolate sauce
The celebrations for Children's Day - October 12 were brought forward by the Humanization Commission of the Dr. Roberto Macedo Emergency Room (PSRM) in Belém. In partnership with the Nutrition and Dietetics Service and the Clinical Nutrition Service, a "Healthy Snack Workshop" was held on the afternoon of this Friday (10) for children treated in the Pediatric Inpatient Unit.
According to nutritionist Jacileide Ribeiro, supervisor of the Clinical Nutrition Service at PSRM, "the action aimed to provide information about healthy snacks in a hospital environment, allowing children to participate in assembling their own snacks, to discover different ways to combine fruits, and to awaken in this audience the healthy habit of eating and gaining quality of life."

On the menu, skewers, fruit salad, and carrot cake with 75% cocoa chocolate sauce were prepared by the children who were allowed to participate in the workshop.
Taste and well-being - Wendel Leonardo Souza Oliveira, 9 years old, a resident of the Mangueirão neighborhood near PSRM, said that everything "was very tasty. But what I liked the most was getting out of the room for a bit."

"Wendel spent the whole morning asking to go home, but after the activity in celebration of Children's Day, he became more cheerful. This moment of having a snack outside the room did him a lot of good," added Jaqueline Souza Oliveira, the boy's mother.
"Today, we promoted a unique activity, where for the first time at PSRM, children had the opportunity to be involved in preparing their own snacks. This action is the second in our programming in honor of Children's Day, which will be celebrated this Sunday. Therefore, we could not miss the chance to promote joy, relaxation, and well-being for our little ones, who will likely spend this very special date hospitalized, unable to celebrate with their families," said the Humanization analyst at PSRM, sociologist Watuzi Rebelo da Silva.
According to her, "with the experience that the little ones had today, we reinforce that care should not be limited only to the illness, but we must consider the patient in their entirety, as someone who needs leisure, socialization, and well-being, especially during the hospitalization period."

For the upcoming Fridays, the programming in honor of Children's Month will include activities led by professionals from the Sustainability, Nutrition, Dentistry, and Physiotherapy Commissions. The programming will involve dynamics, games, and activities related to the areas of expertise of these professionals, creating an environment of relaxation, joy, and interaction among the children treated in the Pediatric Inpatient Unit.
Managed by the Acqua Institute, in partnership with the State Department of Public Health (Sespa), PSRM offers clinical emergency and urgent care, including critical cases, in general, vascular, pediatric, thoracic, and maxillofacial surgery, as well as neurosurgery.
