The Government of Pará launches COP30 stamp for passports and opens the Amazon to the world

Symbol of the countdown to the conference, the action reinforces sustainable tourism and the international presence of the state

The Government of the State of Pará, through the State Secretariat of Tourism (Setur) and in partnership with the Federal Police, launched this Friday (10) the commemorative stamp of the 30th United Nations Conference on Climate Change (COP30), which will be applied to the passports of all passengers — both Brazilian and foreign — who embark or disembark in the international area of Belém airport until December 31, 2025. The symbolic act marked the beginning of the countdown to the climate event, which will take place in the capital of Pará starting on November 10.

The Secretary of Tourism of Pará, Eduardo Costa, emphasized the importance of the initiative for the international promotion of the destination and the strengthening of sustainable tourism.

Setur and PF launched the COP30 stamp

"Belém International Airport is the gateway to the Amazon, and this stamp is the first 'hello' from Pará to our visitors, the first welcoming hug from the Amazon. It invites the world to discover our natural beauties, our rich culture, and the unparalleled hospitality of our people,” he said.

The stamp follows the official visual identity of COP30, with the words “COP 30 Brazil – Amazon – Belém 2025,” inspired by international initiatives such as the Rio de Janeiro Olympics (2016) and COP29 in Baku, Azerbaijan, when commemorative symbols also promoted the host cities. It symbolizes the opening of the Amazon to the world and reinforces Pará's role as host of the largest climate conference on the planet, integrating the set of actions of the state government to welcome heads of state, international delegations, indigenous leaders, scientists, and environmental activists.

Application of the COP30 stamp

For the Secretary of Public Security of Pará, Ualame Machado, the initiative reinforces the welcoming nature of the state. “It is not just a stamp; it is a symbol of how well Brazil and the people of Pará know how to welcome. It is an expression of our hospitality and the joy of welcoming the world to discuss the climate future from the Amazon. This COP will be historic because it will discuss the Amazon with those who live in it.”

Also present at the ceremony, the Minister of Justice and Public Security, Ricardo Lewandowski, highlighted the institutional and symbolic nature of the act.

The Minister of Justice and Public Security, Ricardo Lewandowski, highlighted the institutional and symbolic nature of the act.

“We are witnessing not just the bureaucratic act of launching a stamp, but the reaffirmation of the country's sovereignty. Each passport stamped by the Federal Police represents the State's control over its territory and, at the same time, Brazil's opening to the world. COP30 will be the opportunity for global leaders to reaffirm their commitments to the future of the planet and humanity itself.”

The Director-General of the Federal Police (PF), Andrei Rodrigues, emphasized the symbolism of the gesture and the integration between institutions. “It is a simple event, but very strong, that shows the joint work of the three levels of government and different public and private agencies. All visitors passing through Belém will carry this mark in their passport — a permanent reminder that they were in the heart of the Amazon during a historic moment,” he said.

The PF will be responsible for applying the stamp to all passports processed at the airport, including those of heads of state and official delegations disembarking at the capital's Air Base.

The first to receive the stamp was federal public servant Pollyana Pacheco, who has lived in Belém for four years. Pregnant, she moved those present by recounting the significance of the moment. “It is an important moment because Pará is already in my heart. I am not from here, but I live here, so I have a very special affection for Belém. And knowing that it will now be marked in my passport, an official document, is even more important to me. I will always have a place in my heart reserved here in the state of Pará.”

Airport infrastructure ready for the world

Belém International Airport, modernized by Norte da Amazônia Aeroportos (NOA) with investments of U$ 450 million in infrastructure, technology, and sustainability, will be the main gateway for COP30. “The COP30 stamp represents the joint effort to integrate the airport experience into the narrative of valuing the Amazon and Pará as hosts of a global event. The airport is prepared to welcome the world with excellence and environmental awareness,” highlighted Marco Antônio Migliorini, CEO of the concessionaire.
