State mobilizes nearly 4,000 agents to ensure safety at the largest pilgrimage
According to the security agencies of the Government of Pará, about 2.6 million people attended the Círio through the streets of Belém on the morning of this Sunday
The largest religious manifestation in Brazil, the Círio de Nazaré, attracted more than 2.6 million pilgrims to the streets of Belém on the morning of this Sunday (12). At the same time, public security agents integrated and coordinated by the State Secretariat for Public Security and Social Defense (Segup) carried out the “Operation Círio 2025” on the main roads and around the largest of the 14 processions in honor of Our Lady of Nazaré, the patroness of the people of Pará.

With a force of nearly 4,000 agents from state, federal, and municipal spheres, supported by more than 900 vehicles, the integrated operation carried out actions to ensure that the procession proceeded smoothly, minimizing possible incidents, as highlighted by the Secretary of State for Public Security and Social Defense, Ualame Machado.
“Once again, public security is present at the largest festival of faith for the people of Pará. This, which is the Christmas of the people of Pará, mobilizes more than 12,000 agents in all the festivities involving the Nazarene season. We had our force deployed so that everyone could experience this moment that is so important not only for those who live here but also for the tourists and pilgrims who come to fulfill their promises in the Círio de Nazaré procession,” said the secretary.

Service and monitoring - This year, once again, the actions included real-time monitoring of the streets by the Integrated Command and Control Center Mobile, installed at Largo do Redondo, on Avenida Nazaré with Travessa Quintino Bocaiúva. The operation of the Center among the faithful aimed to accelerate police actions in case of occurrences, as well as to monitor and record minor incidents.
The Integrated Center located on Almirante Barroso was also activated to monitor the streets of Belém, gathering about 20 state, municipal, and federal security agents.
Pilgrims highlighted the presence of security agents during the walks to Belém and in the processions.

Summary - This morning, since the beginning of the movement for the departure of the Círio de Nazaré, 57 urgent and emergency occurrences were recorded. The Red Cross and Civil Defense carried out more than 100 services. The State Secretariat of Public Health attended to about 350 people. There were also 15 occurrences recorded by the Civil Police teams present at the Integrated Mobile Control Center. Military Police agents recovered two cell phones, and an incident involving a drone was recorded, with no risk to the pilgrims.

Twenty observation points were installed along the route of the main processions of the Nazaré Festivity. Military Police and Military Firefighters monitored the movement of the public and directed them for assistance.
Security also had its force conducting aerial patrols through the Air Security Group (Graesp), with two aircraft and a drone, monitoring and patrolling throughout the entire route of the Círio.
