Oriximiná Regional Hospital performs 168 gynecological surgeries in 2025
Procedures benefit patients from the Calha Norte region and reinforce the offer of specialized gynecological care
The Oriximiná Menino Jesus Regional Hospital (HRMJ) performed, between January and September 2025, a total of 168 gynecological surgeries. These procedures treat diseases and conditions of the female reproductive system — such as the uterus, ovaries, fallopian tubes, vagina, and vulva — with the aim of alleviating symptoms, improving quality of life, and, in some cases, saving lives.
Among the recently benefited patients are Eudilane Cardoso Souza, 36, from Terra Santa, and Silviane de Azevedo Brito, 47, from Óbidos. “I was admitted in June, in my municipality, to have my surgery. I underwent a hysterectomy, everything went well, and the doctor is an excellent professional,” reported Eudilane.
Silviane also celebrated the success of her procedure. “I had surgery to remove a fibroid. I really liked the treatment here at the hospital — the staff are very polite and treat the patients very well,” she stated.
According to HRMJ gynecologist Dr. Jean Guimarães, the main procedures performed at the unit are hysterectomies, indicated in cases of fibroids or endometriosis.
“We are in the surgery week here at the Regional, and the vast majority of procedures are performed via abdominal or vaginal routes. In addition to hysterectomies, we perform ovarian surgeries, fallopian tube removals, vaginal surgeries, bladder and rectal prolapse surgeries, as well as treatments for urinary incontinence, among others,” explained the specialist.
The doctor emphasizes that the flow of care occurs through the regulation system, ensuring that patients are initially evaluated in their municipalities of origin.
“These patients are initially attended to in their cities, where they undergo a pre-triage with a possible surgical diagnosis in gynecology. They are then referred to our outpatient clinic at the Regional for evaluation and scheduling of the procedure,” detailed specialist Jean.
Humanized care and 100% SUS
With one year of full operation, the Oriximiná Menino Jesus Regional Hospital has already performed 64,732 consultations, 878 surgeries, and 54,159 exams for the population of the Calha Norte region.
The unit is a reference in orthopedics and traumatology, has 26 inpatient beds, an Intensive Care Unit (ICU), and 16 welcoming beds, offering comprehensive, humanized, and completely free care through SUS.
The HRMJ has a multidisciplinary team composed of nursing, pharmacy, physiotherapy, speech therapy, nutrition, psychology, and social service professionals, ensuring safe, welcoming, and quality assistance to the population.
