Semas strengthens bioeconomy and traditional knowledge at the 13th Círio Handicraft Fair
The event brought together enterprises from indigenous peoples, quilombolas, and traditional communities, curated by the Secretary of the Environment

The State Secretary of Environment, Climate and Sustainability (Semas) was present at the 13th edition of the Círio Handicraft Fair (FAC), held from October 9 to 15, at the Porto Futuro complex in Belém. Semas' participation reinforces the Pará Government's commitment to strengthening the bioeconomy, valuing Amazonian sociobiodiversity, and the productive inclusion of Indigenous Peoples, Quilombolas, and Traditional Communities (PIQCTs).
In this edition, Semas was responsible for curating 10 community businesses led by representatives from different regions of the state. The products displayed in the secretary's space highlighted the sustainable use of natural resources and the protagonism of artisans from the forest, with pieces that express the sociocultural diversity of the Amazon.
“Each piece displayed here carries social technology, cultural identity, and commitment to the territory,” emphasized Jalyne Assunção, environmental analyst at Semas.
Voices from the community: appreciation and opportunity
Representing the quilombola community of Tatuamiri, from the group of women Flores da Resistência, artisan Keitiany Dias Araújo celebrated the opportunity. “I am emotional to be here at FAC showcasing our products. It is very special because we received the invitation through Semas, to have this opportunity to be here representing our quilombo,” she stated.
Also a member of the group, Rosinete Couto highlighted the results of participating in the event. “We work with decorative ceramics, lamps, and we also have a line of bio-jewelry. Besides showcasing our products, we had a positive outcome with sales. We sold almost everything we brought and we were able to make many contacts for future sales,” she celebrated.
Partnerships that strengthen public policies
The general coordinator of FAC, Igor Silva, thanked Semas for its presence and partnership with Sebrae. “The partnership between Semas and Sebrae is very important for us to be here representing quilombola, extractive, and riverside peoples. We know the importance of the inclusion work developed for these peoples,” he emphasized.
The Círio Handicraft Fair 2025 once again consolidated itself as a showcase of Amazonian entrepreneurship, combining faith, culture, tradition, and sustainable regional development.
