A meeting held this Friday (17) concluded the gathering of representatives from the Pará Sanitation Company (Cosanpa) and the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB), to present the progress of Prodesan Pará, a project executed by Cosanpa for the modernization and expansion of water supply systems, sewage collection, and treatment in Belém, Ananindeua, and Marituba.

Started on Monday (13), the meeting allowed for visits to the ongoing works and detailed the work carried out by Cosanpa for the execution of the projects and compliance with the contractual guidelines with the IDB, which, along with the government of Pará, is financing Prodesan Pará.

“With Prodesan, we have major works to execute ahead to improve the quality of life of the population through sanitation. This partnership and monitoring from the IDB, as a financing institution, is very important, especially when it is done on-site, because we can present the scope of the improvements and the logistical challenges that arise in large works like these when carried out in the Amazon,” said the president of Cosanpa, Colonel Dilson Junior.

Currently, Prodesan Pará has 16 contracted works to strengthen the water supply systems in Belém, Ananindeua, and Marituba, including the construction of new reservoirs, pumping stations, and modernization of equipment, ensuring the necessary improvements for the distribution of potable water to over one million people in Belém and Ananindeua.

A new meeting between Cosanpa and the IDB is already scheduled for the end of this month in Brasília, and will include representatives from the federal government. “We have already been to Brasília this year, where we signed agreements that are already underway and others in progress. Now, we will present a new presentation showing what we are executing and planning for the first half of 2026, and the observations made by the IDB, because we still have important stages to fulfill and works to contract and execute,” added Tatiana Costa, coordinator of Prodesan Pará at Cosanpa.
