HRPL holds lecture on obesity and encourages self-care among users
Action in Paragominas integrates quality of life project and reinforces the importance of healthy eating in disease prevention
The Regional Public Hospital of the East (HRPL), in Paragominas, held an educational lecture on obesity and healthy eating last Thursday (16) as part of the health promotion and quality of life actions of the unit. Led by nutritionist Brenda Allen, the meeting gathered users and companions in the hospital's central reception, aiming to raise awareness about the importance of self-care and prevention through balanced eating habits.
During the lecture, the professional emphasized that obesity should be understood beyond aesthetics, being a public health problem that involves physical, emotional, and social factors. The activity was promoted by the Humanization Commission, with support from the Specialized Service in Safety Engineering and Occupational Medicine (SESMT).
“Contributing to more people understanding the relevance of prevention, balanced eating, and self-care reinforces my commitment to the profession and the purpose of transforming lives through nutrition and health education,” stated Brenda Allen.
Active participation and new habits
The lecture was well received by the audience present. Elderly caregiver Marina Freitas dos Santos, 41, stated that she was surprised by the number of dates on the calendar that address food and highlighted that the meeting awakened a new perception about the role of food in human relationships.
A recent Crossfit practitioner, Marina shared that she seeks to balance her busy routine with healthier eating. “With the rush of everyday life, it’s hard to stop to cook and realize what we are eating, but that won’t stop me from being healthier,” she declared.
Quality of life and humanized care
The initiative is part of the institutional health and quality of life project developed by HRPL, which focuses on humanized care and health education actions directed at the population served by the unit. Actions like this reinforce the commitment of the state health network to the prevention and well-being of users.
In the first half of 2025 alone, HRPL reached the mark of 163,145 services and procedures performed, establishing itself as a reference in hospital assistance in the region.
