Usina da Paz Jurunas/Condor celebrates three years with nearly 70% drop in violence and around 1 million services provided
Unit located in Belém reinforces citizenship with courses, sports, and free services, contributing to the social transformation of the territory
The Usina da Paz (UsiPaz) Jurunas/Condor, in Belém, completed three years of operation this October with significant results in public safety, citizenship, and social inclusion. The public facility of the Government of the State of Pará, inaugurated in 2022, has already accounted for around one million free services to the community and directly impacts the reduction of crime in the territory where it is located.
According to the State Secretariat for Public Security and Social Defense (Segup), the Jurunas/Condor territory recorded a 68.8% decrease in Intentional Lethal Violent Crimes (CVLI), which include homicides, robberies followed by death, femicides, and bodily injuries resulting in death, from January to September 2025, compared to the same period in 2024. The robbery rate also showed a reduction of 13.9% in the region.
“Pará is experiencing a different reality under the current administration, since the implementation of the Public Policy Territory for Peace, and subsequently the arrival of the Usinas da Paz, which continue to transform the lives of people in every location they are present. We have seen significant reductions in both property crimes and crimes that take lives. We continue to work strongly to expand actions throughout the State, ensuring not only safety but also services and opportunities that continue to change the reality of the people of Pará,” stated the Secretary of Public Security, Ualame Machado.
Social transformation and opportunities
In addition to the direct impact on safety, the UsiPaz Jurunas/Condor has become a reference in providing free services and citizenship actions. In three years, the unit has established itself as a meeting point for residents seeking professional training, social assistance, sports, cultural, and educational activities. There are more than 70 types of services offered on a permanent basis.
Anderson Corrêa, a resident of the Jurunas neighborhood and a university student, is currently participating in the English language course offered by the Usina and shares how the space has broadened his future perspectives.
“The Usina opened many doors for me and for many people in the neighborhood. Here, we have access to quality courses that help us prepare for the job market and also to dream bigger. It’s a space that has changed Jurunas, bringing more knowledge and hope to the community,” he said.
State presence and strengthening citizenship
The State Secretary for Citizenship Articulation, Elieth Braga, emphasized the transformative role of UsiPaz, highlighting the importance of the effective presence of the State in historically vulnerable areas.
“The Usina da Paz Jurunas/Condor is a reference in citizenship, inclusion, and opportunities. In just three years, we have seen stories of overcoming, young people landing their first jobs, women starting businesses, and entire families rebuilding their lives with dignity. This is the mission of the Usinas: to stand by the population and show that it is possible to live in peace, with hope and a future,” she pointed out.
Service and operation
The Usina da Paz Jurunas/Condor is located at Travessa Quintino Bocaiúva, s/n, between Avenida Bernardo Sayão and Travessa Honório José dos Santos. The complex operates from Monday to Friday, from 8 am to 10 pm, and on weekends according to the schedule defined with the community. Until next Friday (24), the unit will be temporarily closed for structural works, aiming to ensure even more comfort and safety for users.
