Semas delivers research and environmental analysis equipment to Ufra laboratories
Through partnerships, the State Secretariat for the Environment, Climate and Sustainability strengthens innovation, scientific research, and professional training
The State Secretariat for the Environment, Climate and Sustainability (Semas) delivered equipment aimed at the areas of geotechnology, ecology, and environmental chemistry at the Federal Rural University of the Amazon (Ufra) in Belém. This action is part of Semas's partnerships with companies in the mineral sector, which have promoted donations of materials and investments that strengthen innovation, scientific research, and professional training in the State.

Last week, 10 computers, a water quality probe, five microscopes, three cell counters, one drone, four tablets, 10 notebooks, and two GPS devices were delivered, which will serve three university laboratories focused on the areas of environmental chemistry, aquatic ecology, and geotechnologies.
The donations will directly benefit the Laboratory of Ichthyology and Dynamics of Fish Populations (Laid), the Laboratory of Geotechnologies for Environmental and Urban Sustainability (Ecogeolab), and the Laboratory of Environmental Chemistry (LQA).

Cooperation - In addition to the delivery, the Deputy Secretary of Environmental Management and Regularity, Rodolpho Zahluth Bastos, visited the Wildlife Animal Screening Center (Cetras/Ufra) and the Amazon Biomes Project, reinforcing cooperation between the government and academia in actions aimed at conservation and sustainability. "It is an initiative of support from the private sector, with the intervention of Semas, which recognizes the fundamental role of academia for society through the strengthening of its teaching, research, and extension activities," highlighted Rodolpho Zahluth Bastos.
“Interlocution, dialogue, and joint action among different sectors of society are essential to face contemporary challenges associated with climate change. By strengthening the University and supporting Science, society as a whole benefits,” added the deputy secretary.

During the visit, Ufra's rector, Professor Janae Gonçalves, emphasized the importance of the partnership and thanked for the support to research and academic training. “Today is a moment of great happiness for the University. Seeing companies trusting Ufra and donating equipment shows that the research we do here is recognized and necessary. These materials will be fundamental for the professor to develop knowledge alongside the student and train even more prepared professionals,” said the rector, adding that “all of this is only possible thanks to the sensitivity and entrepreneurial vision of the State, which has made this bridge between the productive sector and educational institutions.”
