The Vice Governor of Pará, Hana Ghassan, visited the extension and duplication work of the New Marinha Street in Belém on the afternoon of this Wednesday (22). Considered one of the legacies of the 30th United Nations Conference on Climate Change (COP30) for the capital, the project will connect Augusto Montenegro Avenue to Centenário Avenue, forming a strategic urban mobility corridor.

"The New Marinha Street is very beautiful and fulfilling its purpose of improving traffic, bringing fluidity so that people spend less time in their cars and more time at home, enjoying leisure moments. It is a grand project, as mobility is very important for our lives. And it is certainly a project that transforms the daily lives of many people for the better. We continue with the work to deliver this important public facility in our capital," emphasized Vice Governor Hana Ghassan.

With almost 3.4 kilometers in length, the intervention is carried out by the State Department of Public Works (Seop) and will benefit about 200,000 people from the neighborhoods of Marambaia, Benguí, Val-de-Cans, Mangueirão, Castanheira, and Souza, reducing congestion, increasing road safety, and decreasing travel time in Belém and the Metropolitan Region.

The road will have two lanes in each direction with three lanes each, a bike lane, and accessible sidewalks. The project also includes horizontal and vertical signage, recessed bus stops with informational totems, and new LED lighting, ensuring more comfort and safety for the population.

The project generates more than 570 direct jobs and is divided into two sections: the first, with services in the final stretch, goes from Augusto Montenegro Avenue to São Joaquim Canal. The second section extends from the banks of São Joaquim Canal to Centenário Avenue. The work fronts operate simultaneously with asphalting, earthworks, urbanization, drainage, and the construction of a roundabout.
