With a schedule full of playful and educational activities that reinforced the value of environmental conservation from childhood, the Institute of Forest Development and Biodiversity of Pará (Ideflor-Bio) promoted an event in honor of Children's Month with the young residents of Serra das Andorinhas, in São Geraldo do Araguaia, in southeastern Pará. The initiative brought smiles, learning, and a strong commitment to nature.

The event featured an environmental cinema session, games, popcorn, snacks, a bicycle raffle, and toy distribution, transforming the Serra dos Martírios/Andorinhas State Park into a space of joy and community interaction. The initiative aimed to combine leisure and ecological awareness, stimulating in the new generations a sense of belonging to the forest and respect for local biodiversity — one of the pillars of Ideflor-Bio's work throughout the Pará territory.

In addition to activities dedicated to children, the moment was also a recognition of the teachers from the municipal education network. In honor of Teacher's Day, celebrated in October, the team from the Araguaia Administrative Region Management of Ideflor-Bio paid a fitting tribute to the educators who contribute to the civic and environmental education of students. The gesture reinforced the importance of the partnership between the school and the environmental agency in building a culture of sustainability.

Celebration - The manager of the Araguaia Administrative Region, Laís Mercedes, highlighted the educational and affectionate nature of the action. “More than just celebrating Children's Month, we wanted to provide a moment of learning and enchantment with the environment. It is in childhood that the values of care and respect for nature are born, and initiatives like this strengthen the bond between the community and the Serra dos Martírios/Andorinhas State Park,” she stated.

The program was supported and partnered with Master Boi Slaughterhouse, the Cachoeira Três Quedas Tourist Enterprise, local entrepreneurs, councilman Douglas Costa, Ideflor-Bio management advisor Lena Pinto, and the Municipal Education Department. The joint mobilization reinforced the collective commitment to the well-being of children and the strengthening of socio-environmental actions in the municipality.

Satisfaction - Amidst laughter, popcorn, and games, the sparkle in the children's eyes summed up the success of the morning. “I really liked the movie and playing with my friends. I learned that we have to take care of the trees and the animals that live here,” said Maria Eduarda, 9 years old, one of the children who participated in the celebration and returned home with not only a toy but also a new lesson about love for nature.

The program concluded Children's Month with a message of hope: that a greener and more conscious future begins with the experiences lived today. “At the Serra dos Martírios/Andorinhas State Park, the laughter of children echoed as a reminder that taking care of the Amazon also means ensuring space for joy, learning, and building a more sustainable world,” concluded manager Laís Mercedes.
