The new Pastor Gilberto Marques overpass will be delivered to the public this Saturday (25), marking an important advance in urban mobility in the Metropolitan Region. The work will facilitate traffic between Belém and Ananindeua, ensuring more agility, safety, and quality of life for those who travel daily between the two municipalities. Located at the intersection of Mário Covas Avenue and Independência Avenue, in the Coqueiro neighborhood, the structure is 350 meters long, 14 meters wide, and 5.5 meters high, and will improve traffic in the region.

More than 20,000 people travel daily in the area, and with the new structure, those coming from Augusto Montenegro Avenue to BR-316 and vice versa will be able to pass without having to stop at the traffic light. Since the beginning of the work in 2024, about 300 workers have been involved, directly or indirectly, in the construction of the fifth overpass.

"I think it will improve a lot, because before there were only two lanes. Now those coming under the overpass won't interfere with those coming from Mário Covas or Icoaraci," comments electrician Nestor Sepeda, a resident of the neighborhood.

According to motorcyclist Guilherme Silva, the new overpass brings more safety for everyone

For motorcyclist Guilherme Silva, the new structure will improve not only traffic but also the safety of drivers who travel daily in the area. "This used to be a very complicated intersection, now with the overpass, traffic will be easier. It will improve the flow and even our safety as we travel by vehicles on the road," he celebrates.

Four other overpasses have already been delivered to the public in the last two years: the first in 2023, at the BR-316 with Ananin Avenue, in Ananindeua; the second, in 2024, at BR-316 with the Viária Access, in Marituba; the third in 2025, at BR-316 with Independência Avenue, in Ananindeua; and the fourth at Mário Covas Avenue with Três Corações Avenue, in May 2025.
