The Hemotherapy and Hematology Center Foundation of Pará (Hemopa) held, this Thursday (23), at its headquarters in Belém, the final stage of the Sustainability Workshop in the Hemotherapy Service, an activity that is part of the Hemopa COP30 Campaign - "At COP30, sustain life. Donate blood." The event brought together members of 14 academic groups from various fields of knowledge, representatives of public and private institutions partnering with Hemopa through the Solidarity University Project.

The Hemopa Foundation's institutional mission is to ensure hemotherapy and hematological coverage throughout the State, as well as to promote scientific innovation through teaching, research, and knowledge production in the field of blood. The event marked the symbolic closing of the workshop and reinforced the Foundation's commitment to education, sustainability, and social engagement, values that guide Hemopa's actions in line with the objectives of COP30 and the sustainable development goals.

Lectures address management, quality of life, and sustainable practices in the hemotherapy service

The meeting was held in the Oswaldo Belarmino Auditorium, with the presence of the president of the Hemopa Foundation, Paulo André Castelo Branco Bezerra, who gave the lecture "Management at the Hemopa Foundation," highlighting institutional advances and the strategic role of the Foundation in consolidating public policies aimed at sustainability and social responsibility in health services.

The program also included presentations by professionals from the institution and guests. Social worker and Donor Recruitment Manager, Juciara Farias, addressed the topic "In the Digital Age: the challenge of engaging donors"; Maria de Nazaré dos Santos Saldanha, from the same management, spoke about "Quality of Life and Sustainability"; and nurse Carla Nazaré Brito Durães, manager of Washing and Sterilization, presented the topic "Sustainable Management in the Hemotherapy Service."

Professor Selly Lira from Unama Parque Shopping presents student engagement experiences in campaigns

In addition to the internal lectures, the workshop also received participation from different campuses of the University of the Amazon (Unama), which presented successful experiences of university mobilization for blood donation. Unama Alcindo Cacela, represented by Professor Eliane Leite de Trindade, and Unama Parque Shopping, represented by Selly Socorro dos Prazeres Lira, shared successful practices developed by students during campaigns conducted in partnership with Hemopa.

For social worker and Donor Recruitment Manager, Juciara Farias, the event consolidates a process that began in June, with the active participation of university students in mobilization actions and encouragement for donation.

"The workshop aims to enhance knowledge about sustainability within the Hemopa Foundation and strengthen blood donation as a social responsibility action. These students have been participating since the beginning of the campaign, promoting activities ranging from collection campaigns to booths and educational actions, such as the one we held in Praça da República," she explained.

Juciara Farias, Donor Recruitment Manager emphasized the importance of health education

Juciara also highlighted the role of health education as a basis for engaging future professionals. "Health education is essential within the theme of donation. Our role is to train conscious university students, capable of multiplying this message within the academic community, in their professional and personal lives," she added.

Representing the student body, Evellyn Costa, a Biomedicine student at Faci Wyden College and a member of the Academic League of Pharmacy and Biomedicine (LaFab), emphasized the importance of learning about the correct disposal of waste and sustainable practices in the health field.

"It is essential that we, future professionals, know how to deal with waste issues, not only for environmental reasons but also for the care of future generations. This knowledge is fundamental for our safety as well as for that of patients," she stated.

The closing also featured the talk show "Actions in Health Education from the Perspective of Hemotherapy," which presented creative productions developed by the academic groups participating in the workshop.

During the execution of the Hemopa COP30 Campaign, various solidarity actions were carried out with the support of educational institutions. Adding all stages, Hemopa collected 538 blood bags, which can represent at least two thousand lives saved.
