Police seize 3kg of drugs and arrest a suspect in operation at Base Antônio Lemos
The skunk-type marijuana and a quantity of oxi were found in the luggage of a passenger traveling to Belém aboard the ship Rondônia and were discovered by the sniffer dog.
On the night of last Saturday, the 25th, agents from the Integrated Fluvial Base Antônio Lemos, located in the Breves strait, seized over 3kg of narcotics transported on a vessel coming from Manaus. During the operation, a man was arrested. The action coordinated by the Secretary of Public Security and Social Defense (Segup) aims to combat drug trafficking and crime in the Marajó region.
“The presence of the Antônio Lemos Fluvial Base in the Marajó region has resulted in positive actions for security, which acts in intercepting vessels that serve as transportation for drug trafficking and for other actions originating from criminal groups. Our teams conduct daily inspections on the river network to curb crimes and ensure greater security for this region,” said the Secretary of Public Security and Social Defense, Ualame Machado.
Approach - The police team operating at the Antônio Lemos Base in Breves initiated another operation to combat drug trafficking, coordinated by the Fluvial Security Group (Gflu), in the Marajó region. The agents boarded the vessel named “Rondônia,” which was coming from Manaus to the port of Belém. With the help of the sniffer dog from the Military Police's Canine Action Battalion (BAC), “Anubis,” 2.005 kg of skunk-type substance was identified, along with 1.075 kg of oxi-type substance, totaling 3.080 kg of narcotics. The drugs were found in the suitcase of one of the passengers on the vessel. After the operation, the man and the seized narcotics were taken to the police station located at the Antônio Lemos Base for the necessary procedures.
Óbidos - On last Friday, the 24th, at the Candiru Fluvial Base, located in the Óbidos strait, inspection actions resulted in the seizure of a firearm, caliber 20, and also 10 ammunition hidden in the cabin of a truck that was being transported on the vessel “Gabriela II.” The seized material, along with the vehicle's owner, was sent to the police unit of the Fluvial Base for the necessary procedures.
