Museum of the Amazons launches digital scheduling for educational group visits
New tool facilitates access for schools and institutions to free guided visits to the Museum's exhibitions in Belém
The Museum of the Amazons has just launched a new tool to facilitate public access to its guided educational group visits, which can now be scheduled entirely digitally by filling out a form available via a link on the internet, access here.
The educational visits are free and last up to two hours. They take place in the exhibitions on display at the Museum of the Amazons, located at Av. Marechal Hermes, 14 Armazém 4A of the Porto Futuro II Complex in Belém. During the guided visits, the public is led by the Museum of the Amazons' team of educators in an experience focused on valuing and integrating knowledge, identities, territories, and Amazonian heritage through dialogue, listening, and sharing experiences between visitors and educators.
“The educational visits are moments of exchange and collective knowledge building. We want each group to recognize themselves within the many Amazons that the museum presents and contribute with their own experiences and perceptions. The digital scheduling form aims to make this access even easier, more inclusive, and democratic,” emphasizes Emerson Caldas, coordinator of service and education at the Museum of the Amazons.
Free and accessible scheduling
The digital scheduling system aims to make the process faster and more accessible for schools, universities, collectives, institutions, and other groups interested in getting to know the space. After filling out the form, the group leader must wait for confirmation via email.
Scheduling requests must be made at least seven business days in advance, and the response is sent within three business days. Visits can be scheduled for Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, or Friday, with a limit of up to five groups per shift (morning and afternoon).
See specific guidelines for organizing group visits:
• Children up to 6 years: maximum of 20 participants, accompanied by at least 4 teachers or guardians;
• Children from 7 years: maximum of 20 participants, accompanied by at least 2 teachers or guardians.
The Museum of the Amazons
The Museum of the Amazons was designed to be a reference in innovative, inclusive, and territory-connected museological practices. It was born with the mission of strengthening the identity and diversity of the region, revealing the plurality of voices and knowledge that make up the largest tropical biome on the planet.
The museum is part of the set of works carried out by the Government of Pará and left as a legacy of COP30 to the capital of Pará. With its inauguration, Belém now houses one of the main museums dedicated to culture, science, sustainability, and technology in the region, reaffirming the role of the Amazon at the center of current global debates.
On the occasion of the opening, the Museum features two highly relevant exhibitions. On the first floor is the international exhibition Amazon, by photographer Sebastião Salgado, presented for the first time in Northern Brazil. The exhibition brings together about 200 black and white photographs, the result of seven years of the artist's expeditions in the Amazon region, and seeks to raise awareness about the importance of preserving the forest and valuing the indigenous communities that inhabit it, with images that reveal the beauty and fragility of the ecosystem.
On the mezzanine, the public can visit the exhibition Ajurí, conceived by the Institute of Development and Management (idg), responsible for implementing the space, especially for the Museum. Eight installations by artists from the Northern region and other parts of Brazil make up this show, which includes painting, interactive videos, sculptures, photographs, and immersive installations. The title Ajurí, of indigenous origin, refers to collective work and collaboration - a concept that guides the collective creation process.
The cultural facility has two large exhibition spaces, measuring 950 m² and 500 m², in addition to a shop, multipurpose room, and educational room. The design of the Museum seeks to unite technology, connection, and interactivity with a deep respect for the experiences and knowledge of the Amazonian peoples.
