Man arrested in the act with 260 drug tablets in truck in Icoaraci
Joint action between Denarc, PRF, and Federal Revenue intercepts drug shipment from Amazonas (AM) destined for Pará
A joint action between the Civil Police, through the State Narcotics Division (Denarc), the Federal Highway Police (PRF), and the Federal Revenue of Brazil, resulted, on the afternoon of this Tuesday (28), in the seizure of 260 drug tablets hidden inside the tires of a tractor truck, at a port located in the Icoaraci district of Belém.
The operation was triggered after information exchange and integrated monitoring among the security agencies, which were investigating drug shipments coming from Amazonas (AM) destined for Pará. Investigations indicated that two trailers had left Manaus on a barge transporting drugs to the capital of Pará.
During the diligences, the involvement of two men in the criminal activity was confirmed. With the support of the PRF, which has experience in identifying hidden compartments, the teams conducted a detailed inspection of the vehicles with the assistance of a sniffer dog.
In the tires of one of the trailers, the police found 260 drug tablets similar to skunk marijuana and MDMA, a type of synthetic drug. The truck was driven by one of the previously identified suspects. In the other vehicle, driven by the second investigated individual, no illicit material was found.
The driver caught with the drug was arrested in the act and taken to the Denarc headquarters, where the appropriate procedure was recorded. The seized material was sealed and sent to the Scientific Police for technical examination.
Delegate Davi Cordeiro, head of Denarc, emphasized the importance of integration among security forces. “The result of this operation is the fruit of joint work between the institutions, with information exchange and continuous monitoring. This partnership has been essential to intercept drug shipments entering the State and strengthen the fight against interstate trafficking,” he stated.
After the necessary procedures, the arrested individual was sent to the penitentiary system, where he will remain at the disposal of Justice.
