Segup updates information on the arrests of members of criminal groups in Rio de Janeiro
In total, of the court orders issued by the Justice of Pará, five arrest warrants were executed and another 15 men, targets of the operation, died in confrontations with security agents.
The government of Pará, through the Secretary of Public Security and Social Defense (Segup), informed in an interview this Wednesday (29) about the progress and results of the major police operation carried out last Tuesday (28) in the State of Rio de Janeiro, to execute arrest and search and seizure warrants against members of a criminal organization. In total, 32 court orders were the result of investigations conducted by the Civil Police of Pará against "targets from Pará," who moved to the State of Rio de Janeiro and continued to orchestrate criminal actions in Pará.
During the action carried out in the complexes of Penha and Alemão, of the court orders issued by the Justice of Pará, five arrest warrants were executed and another 15 men, targets of the operation, died in confrontations with security agents. Among those from Pará, there are individuals investigated for involvement in crimes such as drug trafficking, organized crime, homicides, extortion, robberies, and attacks against security agents and vehicles.
According to the Secretary of Public Security and Social Defense of Pará, Ualame Machado, in-depth investigative work and the exchange of information between states is essential for identifying and locating individuals being investigated who move from Pará to seek refuge in other states, such as Rio de Janeiro.
“The police operation that took place in Rio de Janeiro is a necessary operation, including for us to locate individuals from Pará, considering that of the nearly 100 targets, 32 were the result of investigations conducted by the Civil Police of Pará, with warrants granted by the judiciary. We have the updated balance until the afternoon of this Wednesday (29), which indicates five individuals from Pará involved in crime arrested in Rio de Janeiro. Another 15 confronted the police and died, meaning 20 individuals from Pará involved so far, who were located during the action. It is important to remember that we are updating this data every moment the Civil Police of Rio de Janeiro sends us this information. All the targets that were identified and located are individuals of high relevance in the criminal organization, who indeed determined the extortion of merchants, attacks on police vehicles, including a recent attack here in Greater Belém, ordered by one of the individuals who died in confrontation with the police in Rio de Janeiro. Furthermore, they are involved in various attacks on public security agents, drug trafficking, robberies, and violent crimes. Therefore, we will continue to work with strong investigations to ensure all targets are located,” stated the head of Segup.
Operation balance
As of the afternoon of this Wednesday (29), the updated information from the Civil Police of Pará, received from the Security System of Rio de Janeiro, accounts for, among the targets from Pará, five arrests, who operated in Belém, Ananindeua, Cametá, and Tucuruí. Additionally, 15 individuals who confronted the agents died. These operated in areas of Belém, Santa Maria do Pará, Castanhal, Abaetetuba, Ipixuna do Pará, and Irituia.
The government of Pará, through the Public Security System, continues to act through intelligence agencies and the exchange of information between the states of the federation, in order to combat crime, locate, and arrest those involved in crimes committed in the state, whether they are in Pará or in other federative entities.
