Semas reinforces advances in sustainable development with Bioeconomy Showcase and Route
The actions value forest products and strengthen local entrepreneurs, connecting history, culture, and sustainable production
The State Secretariat for the Environment, Climate and Sustainability (Semas), in partnership with the Association of Socio-Bioeconomy Businesses of the Amazon (Assobio), held the "Bioeconomy Showcase" event on Thursday (30), officially launching two new initiatives aimed at valuing sustainable products and businesses in the region: the Bioeconomy Route and the Bioeconomy Showcase.
The meeting, held at Solar da Beira and Porto Futuro, brought together representatives from the government, entrepreneurs, researchers, and institutional partners to celebrate the advancement of the bioeconomy agenda in the State, highlighting the strength of the living forest as a driver of development, innovation, and income generation for the people of Pará.
During the event, the Deputy Secretary of Bioeconomy at Semas, Camille Bemerguy, emphasized the historical and symbolic importance of the initiative, which connects tradition, innovation, and belonging. "Today is a day of celebration. Being here, in front of the river and valuing products that come from nature, shows how far we have come towards a new model of development that looks at people, conservation, and a fairer and more sustainable prosperity. The question that guided the construction of our State Bioeconomy Plan has always been: what bioeconomy do we want for Pará? Today, we can see this answer taking shape in concrete actions like this," she stated.
She also highlighted the role of partnerships in enabling the bioeconomy agenda in the State. "Nothing is done alone. The State would not be able to build this public policy without the collaboration of entrepreneurs, traditional populations, the private sector, and partners like Assobio, KFW, and the Sustainable Amazon Foundation (FAS). The Bioeconomy Showcase and Route show how cooperation can transform ideas into real opportunities," emphasized Camille Bemerguy.
Sustainability and tourism - The Bioeconomy Showcase, located at Porto Futuro, is a space that brings together a wide variety of sustainable products, including food, beverages, cosmetics, fashion, and handicrafts, allowing the public and visitors to learn about and purchase items that represent the wealth of Pará's socio-biodiversity. The Bioeconomy Route proposes tourist itineraries that connect history, culture, and sustainable production, valuing territories and traditional ways of life.
The president of Assobio, Paulo Reis, highlighted that the project is the result of the union between different sectors and symbolizes a new moment for the Amazonian bioeconomy. "Assobio brings together more than 130 businesses that value the standing forest, ways of life, and the innovation that arises in the Amazon. The Bioeconomy Showcase and Route are results of this partnership between the public power, the private sector, and local entrepreneurs. These are projects that show Brazil and the world what our bioeconomy produces and the positive impact it generates for the region," he stated.
The initiatives are supported by FAS and the Realiza Pará Project, with funding from the German Development Bank (KfW) and institutional support from Mercado Livre.
The Bioeconomy Showcase and Route are part of a set of 11 thematic routes planned for the State by the end of next year, with the potential to generate over 200,000 annual visits and expand the reach of sustainable businesses in Pará.
