State student participates in the final of the National Energy Efficiency Olympiad
Joana Moreira Acássio won the gold medal in the qualifying rounds of the educational event and now represents Pará in the grand final in Brasília (DF)
Student Joana Moreira Acássio, from the State School of Elementary and Secondary Education Professor César Pinheiro, in the community of Mirasselvas, in the rural area of Capanema, northeastern Pará, has qualified for the final stage of the National Energy Efficiency Olympiad 2025 (ONEE), which will be held in Brasília (DF) this Thursday (5) and Friday (6).
Joana won the gold medal in the qualifying rounds of the ONEE and is representing the state of Pará in the grand final. The National Energy Efficiency Olympiad (ONEE) is an initiative of the National Electric Energy Agency (ANEEL), which mobilizes students and teachers from the 8th and 9th grades of elementary school.
The event seeks to guide conscious energy consumption, sustainability, and innovation through a dynamic, fun, and engaging approach that combines gamification and challenges.
“Participating in the ONEE has been an incredible experience from the beginning. I never imagined how much this would mark me, because each stage was a mix of nervousness, learning, and overcoming. And I won’t lie, there were times I thought, can I do this? But always with that desire to continue and give my best. And now, being in the final, in Brasília, representing my state, Pará, is an indescribable feeling,” said the student.
She added: “And I keep thinking about everything I’ve experienced so far, the people who supported me, and it’s gratifying. And the coolest thing is that the ONEE taught me much more than I expected. It’s not just about energy or sustainability; it’s about believing in yourself, working as a team, and understanding that small actions make a big difference. It’s about realizing that knowledge has power and that when we dedicate ourselves, the results come. So, yes, I’m happy, excited, and a little nervous. But above all, grateful to be here, to represent my state, and to live something that I will definitely carry with me for life.”
The school is linked to the Capanema Regional Directorate, which celebrates Joana's achievement with enthusiasm, reflecting the positive impact of projects aligned with Natural Sciences and their Technologies, which promote the scientific literacy of students, such as the Energy Efficiency project.
Joana is a person with autism, and her journey reinforces the importance of inclusion and access to quality education, even in regions farther from major centers. The school principal, Professor Carlos Barros, emphasizes the achievement of reaching the final stage of this competition.
“We, as a school, are very happy, very happy indeed for Joana’s achievement, for her having overcome so many obstacles throughout her life. And a girl from a rural school who today represents the State of Pará in Brasília at the National Energy Efficiency Olympiad. For us, it has been wonderful. And for her, she is enchanted by this. I am sure this will mark the life story of this girl,” said the principal.
