The Department of Transit of the State of Pará (Detran) completed, this Wednesday (5), the delivery of about a thousand certificates to drivers who participated in the Driver Training and Qualification course for the 30th United Nations Conference on Climate Change (COP30). The training, aimed at taxi drivers, motorcycle taxi drivers, and app drivers, is part of the State's preparation actions for the international event that will take place in Belém next week.

The course was offered free of charge by the Public Traffic School (EPT) of Detran and included 40 hours of online classes, covering topics such as traffic legislation, humanized service, basic English and Spanish, as well as knowledge about COP30 and the importance of welcoming foreign visitors.

According to the manager of the Public Traffic School, Jomaine Gondim, the initiative focused on preparing professionals to provide quality service during the event.

"Our goal was to qualify the categories of motorcycle taxi drivers, taxi drivers, and app drivers so that they can perform excellently during COP30. We, as hosts, have the responsibility to welcome visitors well, offering quality work and respect. This training represents Detran's commitment to promoting a more humane traffic and preparing for major events," highlighted the manager.

The course had the participation of professionals from various municipalities and partnered with the Union of Professional Motorcycle Workers of the Municipality of Belém (Sindmotobel), which supported the adherence and mobilization of the category.

President of Sindmotobel, Nick Piloto

For the president of Sindmotobel, Nick Piloto, the training was essential to prepare workers for the event.

"It is a highly important initiative because it ensures that the professional motorcyclists of Belém are ready to welcome people from other countries during COP30. Detran deserves congratulations for the excellent work and for the partnership with transport professionals, who are now better prepared to communicate and serve passengers well," he stated.

The motorcycle taxi driver Flávio da Silva, who participated in the course, highlighted the positive impact of the training on his daily profession. "The course was great. We learned a lot about communication, values, and even new languages. Before, I didn't know how to say anything in English, now I can say good morning and good night. This makes a difference in service with passengers," he said.
