On the morning of this Wednesday (5), the Government of Pará, through the State Secretariat of Sports and Leisure (Seel), delivered sports kits to 42 municipalities that will participate in the Pará 2025 Football and Citizenship Tournament. The initiative, which has the support of the Ministry of Sports, aims to encourage amateur sports and promote social inclusion through football.

The project involves about 3,000 athletes, aged between 18 and 40, in field football matches, held from November 14 to 28, in the municipalities covered. The kits contain balls, nets, uniforms, and other sports materials, which ensure the structure for the competition.

Leisure and inclusion - The Secretary of State for Sports and Leisure, Cássio Andrade, highlighted the project's impact on valuing sports and strengthening local communities. “The Football and Citizenship Tournament is an action that goes beyond the field. It rekindles the passion for sports, energizes the municipalities, and creates opportunities for new talents to emerge. The Government of Pará, together with the Ministry of Sports, is committed to democratizing access to sports, bringing inclusion, leisure, and social development to all regions of the State,” said the head of Seel.

The municipalities covered are Belém, Ananindeua, Marituba, Benevides, Tomé-Açu, Vigia de Nazaré, Castanhal, São Francisco do Pará, São Miguel do Guamá, Irituia, Salinópolis, São João de Pirabas, Augusto Corrêa, Ourém, Bonito, Marapanim, Magalhães Barata, Igarapé-Açu, Jacundá, Conceição do Araguaia, Redenção, Pau D’Arco, Xinguara, Rio Maria, Anajás, Ponta de Pedras, Cachoeira do Arari, Salvaterra, Melgaço, Portel, Curralinho, Gurupá, Oeiras do Pará, Acará, Barcarena, Igarapé-Miri, Mocajuba, Paragominas, Dom Eliseu, Mãe do Rio, Aurora do Pará, and São Domingos do Capim.

Paulo Cardoso: state support ensures conditions for sports activities

Competitive tournament - Paulo Cardoso, vice president of Sports of the Municipal League of Salvaterra (in the Marajó Archipelago), emphasized the importance of delivering the kits for strengthening sports in the countryside. “These materials arrive at a very important time. In the countryside, resources are often lacking to keep sports activities active. With the support of the state government, through Seel, we will be able to offer better conditions to our athletes and hold a beautiful and competitive tournament,” he emphasized.

Antônio Souza, from the Friends of Bonitense Sports Group (Gaeb), from the municipality of Bonito (northeast Pará), also highlighted the importance of the initiative and the expectations for the tournament. “We are very happy with this incentive. Football is more than a sport; it is a way to unite people and transform lives. I am looking forward to delivering these kits to our athletes,” said Antônio.

The Pará 2025 Football and Citizenship Tournament reinforces the state's commitment to valuing amateur sports, promoting regional integration, and stimulating social development, transforming football into a tool for inclusion and citizenship throughout the Pará territory.
