The Government of Pará, through the State Secretariat for Social Assistance, Labor, Employment and Income (Seaster), held a meeting of farmers from traditional peoples and communities on Wednesday (05) in the municipality of Tucuruí, in the Carajás region. The action aimed to strengthen indigenous and traditional agriculture, with the Food Acquisition Program (PAA), one of the main public policies to encourage family farming in the State of Pará.
The action, promoted by the Food and Nutritional Security Directorate (Disan) of Seaster, brought together about 138 indigenous farmers from the Assurini ethnicity and 25 quilombola farmers, who participated in lectures and activities aimed at improving food production and marketing.
The event was attended by important institutional partners, such as Emater, Banco da Amazônia, Funai, and the municipality of Tucuruí, who reinforced their joint commitment to sustainable development and the strengthening of traditional communities.
During the training sessions, topics related to the appreciation of traditional agriculture were addressed, aiming to qualify local producers, as well as promote the importance of the PAA in the region.
“The State, through Seaster, acts sustainably and efficiently so that all peoples are reached by the main and important development programs, combining actions and dialogues, in favor of expanding support in all regions of Pará,” emphasized Inocencio Gasparim, head of Seaster.
