The Regional Hospital of Baixo Amazonas is a reference in neonatal care in the western region of Pará

The Dr. Waldemar Penna Regional Hospital of Baixo Amazonas (HRBA), in Santarém, western Pará, is open for registrations for the 1st Meeting on Prematurity, which will be held next Friday (14th), in the chapel of the unit. The program is aimed at health professionals and university students. Interested parties can register for free through an electronic form available here. Spots are limited.

"This month of November is dedicated to prematurity. Our aim is to promote education. It will be a moment of various knowledge exchanges with our multiprofessional team. We invite professionals and students interested in the field to this meeting, which will certainly add a lot of knowledge to those who participate," highlighted nurse Monica Bianca Barros, the HRBA's care manager.

The Meeting is in reference to the national Purple November campaign, which promotes awareness about prematurity and this year has the theme "Ensure premature babies healthy beginnings for bright futures.” The lectures will be given by doctors, nurses, nursing technicians, nutritionists, physiotherapists, and psychologists who work within the Regional Hospital in assisting premature babies. Participants of the meeting will receive a certificate of 8 hours at the end of the event.

Prematurity - The HRBA is a reference in neonatal care for a population of 1.4 million residents in 29 municipalities in western Pará. The hospital has 29 Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) beds and primarily serves premature infants, those born before 37 weeks of gestation, as well as low birth weight babies or those who experienced complications at birth.

The babies are monitored 24 hours a day by the unit's professionals. The Meeting aims to promote the exchange of experiences among those who are daily caring for newborns.

"We offer a complete service to these babies and their families, so that these children can grow healthily, with the necessary follow-up. The goal of the course is to train professionals and students who work or wish to work in the neonatal area, so that they are prepared and know the latest in care for premature babies. Promoting education and qualification in health in our western state region is also part of HRBA's mission," explained the hospital's general director, Matheus Coutinho.

Located in western Pará, the Regional Hospital of Baixo Amazonas provides 100% referenced services, meeting the demand originating from the State Regulation Center. The unit belongs to the Government of Pará, being managed by the Social Institute Mais Saúde, in partnership with the State Department of Public Health (Sespa), and is located at Avenida Sérgio Henn, nº 1100, Diamantino neighborhood, in Santarém.
