Governor Helder Barbalho delivers Pavilion Pará and highlights Amazonian leadership at COP30
The State Government's space at the conference symbolizes Amazonian leadership in the global climate agenda
The government of Pará delivered, this Monday (10), the Pavilion Pará, a space that centralizes the State's participation in the 30th United Nations Conference on Climate Change (COP30) in Belém. Located in the Green Zone, at the City Park, the venue hosts an intense program with over 350 activities including panels, meetings, exhibitions, debates, and cultural presentations, which will take place throughout the event until November 21.
During the ceremony, Governor Helder Barbalho highlighted the democratic and inclusive nature of the space, which brings together representatives from municipal, state, and federal governments, as well as non-governmental organizations, universities, social movements, and the private sector.
“The Pavilion Pará was designed to create an atmosphere of the Amazon, of forest, culture, art, and musicality, and to showcase our beauties. Through a broad and democratic process, we selected programs that connect with the sustainability agenda. This will be our immersion point, an opportunity for the world to experience what it is like to be in the Amazon and in the State of Pará,” said the governor.
Historic milestone for the Amazon
Helder Barbalho emphasized that holding COP30 in the Amazon represents a historic and symbolic milestone, reaffirming the region's capacity to lead solutions to confront the global climate crisis. “We have overcome prejudices. Many doubted that the Amazon could host the world's largest climate event, and today we prove that we are capable. Positioning tropical forests at the center of climate discussions is a victory for us, who live and protect this territory,” he reinforced.
Space for integration and sustainable innovation
Coordinated by the State Secretariat for Environment, Climate, and Sustainability (Semas), the Pavilion Pará integrates various state government agencies and institutional partners. The space also has the sponsorship of the Bank of the State of Pará (Banpará), which participates in the program with panels and launches focused on sustainable finance, microcredit, and green mobility.
The Pavilion's proposal is to highlight Pará's leadership in building a new development model based on the green economy and the appreciation of the living forest, uniting traditional knowledge, innovation, and sustainability.
“This atmosphere was conceived to enchant and inspire all those participating in COP30. We want every visitor to enjoy this space and experience what it is like to be in the Amazon,” concluded the governor.
