The Regional Hospital of Southeast Pará – Dr. Geraldo Veloso (HRSP), in Marabá, in the Southeast of the State, held a photo shoot on Friday (14) in homage to Purple November, the global month of awareness about prematurity. In a delicate production, babies from the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) were photographed alongside their families, amidst purple props and elements that symbolize struggle and overcoming.

The hospital's humanization analyst, Dayane Uzinsky, emphasized the emotional impact that actions like this generate. "The photo shoot is not just a beautiful picture; it is a breath. It is the chance to transform a difficult day into a day of joy, strengthening bonds and showing that humanization is present in every detail," she explained.

With a setting prepared by the humanization team, accessories made with care, and the active participation of family members, the photo shoot gained even more meaning with the babies wearing small purple hats, a symbol of the global campaign. Each detail reinforced the message of Purple November: to celebrate the strength of premature babies, support their families, and highlight the importance of attentive and welcoming care.

For the NICU team, the moment also renewed motivations and reaffirmed the purpose of care. Nurse Mayara Feitosa summarized the feeling shared by the professionals. "Caring for a premature baby is witnessing a miracle every day. Being able to participate in something so symbolic fills our team with motivation," she stated.

Stories of hope amidst prematurity

The action also marked the journey of Luís Miguel's family, a resident of Marabá, in the Carajás Region. The premature baby charmed the team with his calmness during the shoot. For his mother, Mikaelle Nascimento, the initiative brought lightness to the hospital routine. "We live an intense routine here, but moments like this warm the heart. Seeing my son celebrated this way fills me with gratitude," she stated.

Another little protagonist is Deyvid Rael, who continues treatment and receives constant affection from his mother, Crislayne Lima. Emotionally, she shared how the shoot helped transform an ordinary day of hospitalization into a moment of hope. "When I saw my little one dressed for the shoot, I felt new hope. Each photo is a reminder of the strength he has and how much we are fighting together," she reported, with teary eyes.

Prematurity

On November 17, World Prematurity Day is remembered, a moment to reflect on the challenges and impacts of a pregnancy that ends earlier than expected. Generally, an ideal gestation period is considered to be between 38 and 42 weeks, but when birth occurs before 37 weeks, it is classified as premature. This early event can trigger a series of conditions that affect not only the mother's health but also the baby's.

Neonatal Reference

The Regional Hospital of Southeast Pará is a reference for 22 cities in the Carajás integration region in the care of premature babies. The institution has a Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) with nine neonatal beds and a qualified healthcare team that operates 24 hours a day.

The hospital's executive director, Flávio Marconsini, highlights that the NICU team is composed of highly trained professionals, including doctors, nurses, nursing technicians, physiotherapists, and nutritionists. "These professionals ensure constant monitoring of premature babies, providing humanized and safe assistance to newborns," he emphasized.

The Public Regional Hospital of Southeast belongs to the government of Pará, being managed by the Institute of Social and Environmental Health of the Amazon (ISSAA) in partnership with the State Department of Public Health (Sespa). It is a reference for medium and high complexity procedures for over 1 million people in 22 municipalities in the region.
