Policlinic Carajás reinforces men's health care and expands urological services
Campaign intensifies guidance, expands access to consultations and exams, and encourages early diagnosis
The Policlinic Carajás Miguel Chamon, in Marabá, in the Southeast of the State, continues to establish itself as a reference in comprehensive men's health care. From April to October, the unit performed 920 urological consultations, including consultations, diagnoses, and specialized exams, reinforcing the commitment to prevention, quality care, and safe access to health services.
In the month marked by Blue November, this network of care expands. The campaign gains even more strength within the Policlinic, which has intensified guidance on prostate cancer prevention and other diseases affecting the male population. The initiative aims to bring men closer to a routine of self-care, breaking historical taboos and encouraging the importance of early diagnosis.
Among the patients treated is mechanic Carlos Andrade, 52, a resident of Marabá, in the Carajás region, referred after experiencing recurring discomfort. "We always put it off, thinking it's nothing. I was attended to quickly, had the exams done, and left feeling more at ease. This care makes a huge difference," he said.
For self-employed Leonardo Freitas, 41, a resident of Itupiranga, in the Tucuruí Lake region, the team's support helped him overcome the insecurity that always kept him away from doctors' offices. "I avoided coming out of shame and thinking it was just for older people. Today I see that taking care of health is a responsibility, not an age. The Policlinic treated me with respect and guided me properly," he stated.
Urological Care
The unit's director, Joabe Lopes, emphasizes that the increase in demand reflects the population's trust and the importance of specialized services. "Men's health needs to be treated seriously and closely. Here, we guarantee access to urological consultations, exams, and quality follow-up. Our commitment is to provide comprehensive, humanized care that encourages self-care," he highlighted.
Blue November reminds that men aged 45 and older — or 40 if there is a family history of prostate cancer — should have regular follow-ups with a urologist. The campaign recommends: routine exams, balanced diet, physical activity, and attention to body signals.
With a specialized team, modern structure, and educational approach, Policlinic Carajás continues to strengthen the promotion of men's health, especially during Blue November — a period that reminds men that prevention is also an act of courage.
State regulation for services
The services at the Policlinic are regulated by the State Regulation Center, under the responsibility of Sespa. To access the services, citizens must seek a Basic Health Unit in their municipality. After evaluation, the health professional will provide the necessary referral. Then, the patient must present the referral document and their personal data to the Municipal Health Department, which will register and schedule in the State Regulation System.
