Students from Usinas da Paz will bring collective art to the COP30 stage
Initiative brings together students from the Contemporary Dance and Instrumental Music courses of the UsiPaz in Cabanagem and Bengui, in Belém
The art and talent that emerge from the communities served by the Usinas da Paz will gain international projection during the 30th United Nations Conference on Climate Change (COP30). On Monday (17), children and young people served by the citizenship complexes of the State Government will perform at the Pará Pavilion, in the Green Zone, in Belém. The event will bring together students from the Contemporary Dance and Instrumental Music courses of the UsiPaz from the neighborhoods of Cabanagem and Bengui, in the capital.
The dance performance will be presented by students from the Usina da Paz Cabanagem, with the choreography "Resonate." A contemporary performance that expresses, through movements, the connections between human beings, the preservation of nature, and the sustainable future that the Amazon inspires. The group has been intensively preparing in recent weeks.
Realization of dreams - For student Karoline Santos, a resident of the neighborhood, participating in COP30 is the realization of a dream and an opportunity to showcase the transformative power of art. "Dance has taught me to have more confidence and believe that I can reach places I never imagined. Being at COP30 is a chance to show what we have learned and how much the Usina has changed our lives," highlights Karoline Santos.
Student Wilk Vasconcelos shares that it was through the workshops that he discovered his talent. "I found myself in dance. It transformed me and made me see new possibilities. Now, I want to take this transformative role of art to others and show how much it can change stories, just as it changed mine," he states.
The musical performance will be by 17 students served by the Usina da Paz Pe. Bruno Sechi, in the Bengui neighborhood. They will present an instrumental repertoire with violins, a project that results from the music workshops promoted by the Usina. The free training encourages the artistic and social development of young people.
Violinist Thalia Andrade, 21, sees this opportunity as confirmation of a path that began in the Usina workshops. "It was here that I discovered my passion for music. Thanks to the classes, I earned a scholarship in the Sesc orchestra (Social Service of Commerce) and continue learning every day. Now, being able to play at COP30 is an enormous emotion and a pride to represent our community," says Thalia Andrade.
Jhonata Rafael, 14, is also looking forward to his debut at a globally significant event. "I never imagined I would have the chance to play at an international event. It’s a big responsibility, but also an immense joy. We want to show that the young people from Usina da Paz have talent and a lot of dedication," he informs.
The performances are part of the Pará Government's programming at COP30, highlighting the importance of the Usinas da Paz as spaces for social transformation and valuing the potential of communities. The initiative shows that, in addition to public policies and environmental actions, the State brings to the environmental conference a message of art, hope, and youth protagonism.
Social transformation - The State Secretary of Citizenship Articulation, Elieth Braga, emphasizes the symbolism of the students' participation in the conference. "Taking the young people from Usinas da Paz to an international stage like COP30 is showing the world how much Pará believes in the strength of youth and in social transformation through art and education. Each performance represents a dream coming true and reinforces the State Government's commitment to providing opportunities that change lives and strengthen our communities," assures the head of Seac.
The Usinas da Paz are citizenship complexes implemented by the Government of Pará with the aim of promoting social inclusion, reducing violence, and improving the quality of life of the population in vulnerable areas.
The project is part of the Territories for Peace Program (TerPaz), initiated in 2019, and since October 2021, when the first unit was delivered, it has already guaranteed over 10.9 million services in various regions of the State, with more than 70 free services offered in areas such as health, education, sports and leisure, professional training, art and culture, and digital inclusion, in addition to activities focused on sustainability and entrepreneurship.
Currently, 18 Usinas da Paz are in operation, five of which are in the capital (Jurunas/Condor, Guamá, Terra Firme, Bengui, and Cabanagem) and another 13 in municipalities in the Metropolitan Region of Belém and the interior: Ananindeua, Marituba, Benevides, Castanhal, Capanema, Moju, Bragança, São Miguel do Guamá, Abaetetuba, Tucuruí, Marabá, Parauapebas, and Canaã dos Carajás.
Service: The performances of the Music and Dance classes from the Usinas da Paz will take place next Monday (17), at 9 am and 2 pm, respectively.
