Theatro da Paz hosts multimedia concert "Vital Signs of The Planet", focusing on climate issues
The show brings together an orchestra, projections, and global testimonials to reflect on climate and care for the planet
On the night of this Saturday (15), Theatro da Paz was the stage for the show "Vital Signs of The Planet", presented in partnership with the Symphony Orchestra, under the direction of the principal conductor Miguel Campos Neto. The concert featured works by Heitor Villa-Lobos, Igor Stravinsky, and other national and international composers, accompanied by audiovisual projections that enhanced the audience's experience.
The producer of the show, Bonnie Schwartz, highlighted the global nature of the production, which integrated collaborators from different regions, such as Egypt and other countries on the African continent. "Each of these people has their own way of telling their story, and the partnership with the Department of Culture is essential for this story to be told," she stated.
During the presentation, the audience watched a series of videos featuring testimonials from environmentalists addressing contemporary climate challenges. The concert also paid tribute to Pope Francis, recognized for encouraging debates on caring for the "common home", and displayed a message sent by Pope Leo XIV, referring to the holding of COP30 in Pará.
Conductor Miguel Campos Neto emphasized the strength of the integration between music and audiovisual. "Doing a concert including the Symphony Orchestra and multimedia is very important because the Orchestra playing along with the films has a huge impact. This type of cultural manifestation has the power to impact and change the course of events," he highlighted.
Father Alberto Cardoso, from the Archdiocese of Belém, also highlighted the inspiration of the document Laudato Si, which calls society to reflect on the care for human life and the environment. "The Church brings this message very strongly, especially in movements. Today, we had here at Theatro this expressive message of the legacy of Laudato Si, and we see this presence of the Church in society and in the world, bringing answers about the importance that needs to be given to the common home," he said.
The initiative is supported by the government of Pará, through the State Department of Culture (Secult), as well as Theatro da Paz, the Pará Academy of Music (APM), and the organization Jayni & Chevy Chase.
