HGT Physiotherapy Expands Integrated Care and Services in Green Areas
Physiotherapy service exceeded 17,000 appointments in 2025, with actions in clinics, green spaces, and Hemodialysis Center
The General Hospital of Tailândia (HGT) has been strengthening the multiprofessional care offered to hospitalized patients, with a focus on the Physiotherapy service, which has already surpassed 17,000 appointments this year. In addition to daily work in the beds of the Clinics and the Intermediate Care Unit (ICU), the team has begun to incorporate rehabilitation practices in the green spaces of the unit, promoting well-being associated with sustainability during the recovery process.
The initiative is part of a proposal that seeks to combine mobility, humanization, and sensory stimulation, using external areas of the hospital as therapeutic environments. According to the team, outdoor activities contribute to stress reduction, improved mood, engagement in therapies, and increased functional autonomy of patients.
Physiotherapist Fernanda Cordeiro explains that the expansion of therapeutic settings represents an advancement in the quality of care. "Physiotherapy has been seeking strategies that benefit the patient with activities carried out in green spaces that reinforce our commitment to a more humanized rehabilitation. The proposal is to improve prognoses, reduce complications, and contribute to a lighter and more welcoming recovery," said the professional.
Daily Appointments and Active Search
The physiotherapy service at HGT maintains daily appointments in all Hospitalization Clinics — Medical Clinic, Pediatric, Surgical, and Intermediate Care Unit (ICU) — through active search and continuous monitoring of patients who require motor or respiratory interventions. The actions include mobilizations, therapeutic exercises, prevention of sequelae, improvement of strength and functionality, and support for families at the time of discharge.
Project at the Hemodialysis Center
Another initiative that has been standing out is the project developed at the Hemodialysis Center of HGT. Once a week, the physiotherapy team conducts specific appointments for patients undergoing hemodialysis, offering adapted exercises to improve circulation, reduce pain, strengthen muscles, and promote well-being during treatment.
Approval - Patient Lucivan Carvalho, 40 years old, has been hospitalized for 24 days in the Medical Clinic of HGT. A resident of Tailândia, he emphasized that the work done by the physiotherapy team has directly contributed to his self-esteem and the maintenance of functionality during the hospitalization period.
"I have been hospitalized for 24 days and I can only thank the work of physiotherapy. They do exercises with us in bed, keep the body active, and even take us outside when possible. I have already been to the garden and even participated in an afternoon of activities, which helped a lot in my recovery and in my mind. These moments outdoors make a difference for those who spend so many days hospitalized," highlighted the patient.
Data - Adding the actions carried out in the wards, ICU, green spaces, and the Hemodialysis Center, the physiotherapy service at HGT has been expanding its reach. In 2024, the team exceeded 15,000 appointments. In 2025, more than 17,000 interventions have already been recorded, representing an increase of about 13%, reinforcing the unit's commitment to effective and humanized rehabilitation practices.
