Cultural Foundation of Pará promotes cinema circle about films by Kleber Mendonça Filho
The event is open to the public and will take place at 6:30 PM this Thursday (27) at the Casa das Artes, on Avenida Nazaré, in Belém
The Casa das Artes will hold the Cinema Circle at 6:30 PM this Thursday (27) in partnership with the Center for Cinematographic Studies (CEC). The meeting will address the cinematic universe of the Recife-born filmmaker, Kleber Mendonça Filho, an important contemporary Brazilian filmmaker. The event is open to the public and will include the issuance of a certificate.
The program aims to reflect critically and contextually on the works of the director's filmography. The filmmaker, known for works such as “O Som ao Redor,” “Aquarius,” and “Bacurau,” brings in his productions the criticality of memory, political resistance, and social relations, showcasing the role of cinema as a tool for social impact.
In addition to the analysis of the works, an open debate will be held about Kleber Mendonça Filho's latest film, “O Agente Secreto,” which was chosen to represent Brazil at the Oscars, the most prestigious award in the film industry. The film will compete in the “Best International Feature Film” category at the 2026 Oscars.
The event is coordinated and presented by professor, critic, and film researcher Marco Antonio Moreira, who since 2015 has transformed cinema into a democratic space, generating analysis, debate, and reflection.
The Cinema Circle is an opportunity to share various perceptions from the audience present regarding the analyzed works, as well as to motivate the relationship of the people of Pará with cinema.
