Sespa announces number of services provided during COP30

Nearly 5,000 people were served, including participants, workers, and other categories involved in the international event held in Belém

The State Department of Public Health (Sespa) announced, this Wednesday (26), a general report of health services recorded by the Integrated Center for Joint Health Operations (Ciocs) during COP30 (world conference on climate change), at the Service Posts installed in the city, including the Blue Zone, Green Zone, and the Field Hospital, as well as the public and private healthcare network in the capital of Pará.

From November 3 to 25, 4,475 services were recorded, specifically for people involved with the event in Belém, including 1,894 participants; 1,301 workers; 24 authorities; 22 companions; and 1,234 services from other categories.

Of this total, 3,989 were clinical services, 446 in the trauma area, and 40 victims related to the fire that was immediately controlled in the Blue Zone on November 20.

Notification - Considering the notifying units, the services were distributed as follows: 1,255 at the Field Hospital; 1,442 in the Blue Zone; 437 at the COP Village, installed at the UFPA Application School (Federal University of Pará); 333 in the Green Zone; 141 at the Mirante do Rio, at UFPA, where the Peoples' Summit took place; 108 at the UPA (Emergency Care Unit) of Sacramenta; 93 at the UPA of Guamá; 70 at the Outeiro Reception; 68 at the São Brás Market; 77 at Porto Dias Hospital; 72 at the Adventist Hospital of Belém; and 51 at the Prime Hospital of Unimed, in addition to other units with fewer recorded services.

In light of these numbers, Sespa makes a positive assessment of all the work done to ensure health assistance and a quick response in emergency cases involving people connected to COP30.

The Technical Director of Sespa, Carla Figueiredo, assessed that the objective of the State's work, in conjunction with the federal government and municipalities, was successfully achieved, demonstrating the importance of the SUS (Unified Health System) for Brazil. “The result of the health sector's work at COP30 demonstrates the potential of SUS, the robustness of the health assistance structure guaranteed by the State of Pará, the quality of the services that Sespa provides to the population, and the importance of the tripartite work involving Sespa, the Ministry of Health, and the Municipal Health Departments of the Metropolitan Region of Belém and adjacent areas,” reiterated the manager.

Deputy Secretary Heloisa Guimarães: Pará is prepared, also in the area of Health, for large events

The Deputy Secretary of Health Policy Management, Heloisa Guimarães, also made a positive assessment of all the work developed in the health area, ensuring the necessary safety for all participants and workers of the conference. “We managed to decentralize the services and thus avoid overloading the emergency services of the RMB. Certainly, SUS and health in the State of Pará emerge strengthened, demonstrating that Pará is prepared for other mass events,” she stated.

The State Secretary of Public Health, Ivete Vaz, acknowledged the importance of all Sespa employees, other public health institutions, and private network workers for the work done during COP30. “We thank all the professionals involved for their dedication and commitment to the development of actions before, during, and after the major event held in Belém,” said the head of Sespa.
