Security forces arrest 11 members of a criminal organization in Pará, Maranhão, and Santa Catarina
Among those detained are individuals identified as responsible for the 'discipline' role within the faction, a group responsible for investigating internal violations and applying punishments.
The Integrated Force to Combat Organized Crime of Pará (FICCO/PA) and the Criminal Factions Task Force (GTF/NIP) launched, on the morning of this Thursday (27), the second phase of the operation "Coalition for Peace" to combat organized crime. So far, 11 people have been preemptively arrested on suspicion of being part of an interstate criminal organization.
“The arrests occurred simultaneously in the municipalities of Belém, Ananindeua, Marituba, Santa Izabel do Pará, and Castanhal, in the state of Pará, in São Luís, in the state of Maranhão, and in the cities of Joinville, Santo Amaro da Imperatriz, and Timbó, located in the state of Santa Catarina. Among those detained are individuals identified as responsible for the 'discipline' role within the faction, which is a group responsible for investigating internal violations and applying punishments that ranged from fines and physical punishments to executions, as provided for in the statute of the criminal organization,” explained Civil Police delegate Vitor Fontes from FICCO/PA.
Integrated action:
The action was authorized by Judge Jorge Luiz Lisboa Sanches of the Court of Justice of the State of Pará, following a representation from FICCO/PA to the Organized Crime Combat Court of Belém and an appeal filed by the Special Action Group for Combating Organized Crime (GAECO) of the Public Prosecutor's Office of Pará.
“Our investigations indicated that the group was directly involved in crimes such as drug trafficking, extortion, and attacks against the lives of public security agents, and the operation was only possible thanks to the coordination between various state and federal institutions, as well as with FICCO/PA and GTF/NIP, which directly participated in the operations,” continued the delegate.
FICCO/PA is composed of the Federal Police, Civil Police of Pará, and the Penitentiary Administration Secretariat (SEAP), acting as a permanent task force in the fight against criminal organizations. The integration in the operation was fundamental for the success of the operation, which represents another severe blow against the activities of factions responsible for serious crimes and the direct threat to public safety.
The arrested individuals were taken to police units, where they undergo the appropriate judicial procedures and will remain at the disposal of the Justice. The Coalition for Peace Operation continues to progress, and new stages are not ruled out, as indicated by the involved agencies.
