Baile da Saudade transforms the routine of the Hospital da Mulher into a celebration of welcome
Traditional Pará party gets a hospital version, reinforcing humanization actions and combating violence against women
In a nostalgic and relaxed atmosphere, patients, companions, and health professionals participated in the "Baile da Saudade," promoted by the Hospital da Mulher do Pará (HMPA), in Belém, this Friday (28). The aim of the initiative is to create an environment where everyone feels welcomed in the health unit of the Government of Pará.
The "Baile da Saudade" is a type of popular party featuring musical styles that marked an era, such as classic brega and flash brega from Belém. In this context, the programming was adapted to the hospital environment to strengthen the humanization of care.
For the general director of HMPA, Nelma Machado, the Baile da Saudade represents more than entertainment. It is a symbolic gesture about how to care for and value human relationships within public health.
“This is an invitation for men to be an active presence of kindness by inviting women to dance, offering their arm, making space, and creating beautiful memories, just as was done in the old Pará balls. This is the concept we want to bring. After all, kindness is smiling, helping, offering water, accompanying someone to their seat, and engaging in light conversations,” said the manager.
Emotional comfort - The initiative transformed the Living Room into a space of affectionate memories, where people danced and shared moments of relaxation. For many, the Ball was an emotional breather amidst treatment.
Patient Iraci da Conceição, after participating in the program, said that “it was wonderful to have an afternoon of joy. It’s good to distract from the anxiety we feel being in a room, away from our comfort, from our home. It’s very good, gratifying.”
According to patient Luíza de Jesus, 20 years old, “when there are things like this, it’s good to relax, distract the mind, and get away from worries.” Aline Lopes, a companion, also approved the initiative. “I’ve never seen anything like this. It was surprising. I liked it,” she stated.
End of violence - The event also marked the conclusion of actions that highlight the importance of combating violence against women. Last Tuesday (25), International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women, professionals from the Hospital conducted an educational action at the Belém Bus Terminal, aiming to raise awareness among passengers and workers about prevention and confrontation of violence.
“This month, we reaffirm our commitment to the cause by reaching a broader audience, getting closer to society. In each interaction, we seek to bring clarifications and reflection, as women have the right to safety and dignity,” emphasized the general director of HMPA.
The activities integrated different commemorative dates in November, uniting Men's Day and the Day for Combating Violence Against Women in a unique proposal of care, affection, and respect.
Blue November - The programming also included the lecture “Blue November beyond Prostate Cancer,” given by the technical director of HMPA, Rodrigo Maneschy, to professionals at the unit.
He addressed comprehensive care for men's health, prevention, and attention to bodily signals. “We are part of a hospital that specializes in women's health. But health is a universal commitment. It is essential for men to understand that caring for their health is an act of responsibility towards themselves and those they love,” stated Rodrigo Maneschy.
