With over 55 thousand titles delivered, Pará accelerates land regularization policy
Unprecedented delivery pace expands access to property titles and transforms the reality of thousands of families across the State
Resident for 25 years in the Jaderlândia community, in Castanhal, a municipality in the Metropolitan Region of Belém, Maria de Nazaré da Cruz, 45 years old, realizes a dream by being benefited from the advancement of land regularization services in the State. “The feeling is one of gratitude for this achievement: we are owners of our land, of our house. Now we have a document that proves the realization of this dream. This privilege is a blessing from God through the government's gaze towards the people,” she states.
From 2019 to 2025, the Institute of Lands of Pará (Iterpa) and the Housing Company of the State of Pará (Cohab) have already delivered more than 55 thousand land titles, both rural and urban, to the population. With an unprecedented performance, the Institute managed to establish the mark of a thousand titles delivered per month, in addition to several other actions to strengthen land regularization, with operational technical support.
“Land regularization is one of the most transformative public policies in our State. Since 2019, Iterpa has been ensuring that thousands of families in Pará have, for the first time, full rights to their land. The Institute alone has delivered more than 45 thousand titles, a result that represents not only numbers but life stories and social achievements. Each document delivered is synonymous with dignity, legal security, and opportunity. It means that family can invest, access credit, and plan for the future with peace of mind, and above all, with the security that the property is theirs,” emphasizes Bruno Kono, president of Iterpa.
Results - Cohab has benefited around 10 thousand families with urban property titles in Pará over the last six years, and nearly 5 thousand titles in the Paar neighborhood, in Ananindeua, are still in processing for registration. Currently, the Company is working on land regularization in the municipalities of Belém, Ananindeua, Marituba, Castanhal, Acará, Tucuruí, Redenção, Marabá, and Santarém.
The director-president of Cohab, Manoel Pioneiro, reinforces that the volume of property title deliveries shows the work of the Government of Pará aimed at ensuring legal security and dignity for families in Pará. “The urban title, at no cost to the recipient, makes each family truly and legally the owner of the house. It provides the resident access to social benefits, such as 'Sua Casa' (the State's housing public policy), and also allows for requesting lines of credit for those who want to make improvements to their homes,” highlights the manager.
Maria de Lurdes Anchieta, 62 years old, a resident of Castanhal, expresses her happiness upon receiving the title from the state government. “When we arrived in Jaderlândia, 30 years ago, there was no electricity. Gradually, we achieved improvements, and now we have been blessed by God with this government initiative. I am very happy to realize this dream because now we know that the house is ours,” says the resident.
Land regularization is strategic to contribute to the development of cities by ensuring legal and social security to occupants, as well as integrating informal areas into urban planning, boosting the economy and municipal revenue.
