Premiere of the opera Cobra Norato enchants the audience at Theatro da Paz this Thursday (24)
The show based on the modernist poem by Raul Bopp had a full house, with the presence of students from Usinas da Paz and Unipop among the 290 people in the audience

The opera Cobra Norato – Terras do Sem Fim had its premiere on the night of this Thursday (24), at Theatro da Paz, in Belém. The presentation was dedicated to the press, invited cast members, and the technical team of the opera, as well as students from Usinas da Paz (UsiPaz) and the Universidade Popular (Unipop), as part of the actions to democratize access to culture promoted by the State Secretariat of Culture (Secult).
This was the first complete exhibition of the work, which will have its world premiere this Saturday (26), during the opening of the XXIV Opera Festival at Theatro da Paz.

Artistically directed by Carla Camuratti and with a soundtrack composed by André Abujamra, the production is a national effort that brings a contemporary reinterpretation of the modernist poem by Raul Bopp, published in 1931. The work narrates the journey of the caboclo Cobra Norato through legends and mythical creatures of the Amazon rainforest, in search of the daughter of Queen Luzia.
The show features costumes designed by Ronaldo Fraga, lighting by Wagner Pinto, conducting by maestro Silvio Viegas, and art direction by Batman Zavareze. About 80% of the cast is made up of artists from Pará. The soundtrack is performed by the Symphony Orchestra of Theatro da Paz (OSTP).

“Presenting this premiere brings me a sense of duty fulfilled. Making Brazilian music and talking about the Amazon, a subject so pressing for us Brazilians, especially for those from Pará, who will host COP-30, gives a greater meaning to the presentation,” said maestro Silvio Viegas.
Emotion - Cultural activist Zeca Batista attended the premiere of Cobra Norato at Theatro da Paz with friends and family. He, who came through UsiPaz from the Terra Firme neighborhood, stated that he was moved by the opera.

“It is impressive how several elements of the opera refer to our Amazonian identity. I am from a neighborhood that has a very Amazonian origin, so to speak. Terra Firme is a neighborhood surrounded by water and rich in stories, which I was able to glimpse through the presentation. It was breathtaking,” he stated.
For the premiere next Saturday (26), maestro Silvio Viegas promises a light and fun show for the audience. “We will present a special show for audiences of all ages, full of Brazilians, with a Brazilian story, and with fantastic soloists and orchestra. We created something together with the 'face' of the Amazon,” he concluded.
About the XXIV Opera Festival at Theatro da Paz
The Opera Festival at Theatro da Paz, now in its 24th edition, is an initiative of the Government of Pará, through Secult, Theatro da Paz, and the Paraense Academy of Music (APM). The opera Cobra Norato is produced by Gávea Filmes, sponsored by the Vale Cultural Institute, and co-produced by Secult. The season continues with performances on April 26, 27, 29, and 30, always at 8 PM. The festival's programming extends until November.
This edition of the festival again features the Sons da Liberdade project, which involves inmates from the penal system in the making of the opera's costumes. The seamstresses and artisans who are part of the Social Cooperative of Work Arte Feminina (Coostafe) participated in modeling classes for the costume construction process.
On the last Wednesday (23), the participants from Coostafe attended the general pre-rehearsal of the opera at Theatro da Paz and were able to appreciate the work done at the cooperative. This action is part of public policies for the social reintegration of women inmates from the penal system.
