The Secretary of Economic Development, Mining and Energy (Sedeme), through the Directorate of Industry, Commerce and Services Development (DDCIS), and in partnership with the Pará Supermarkets Association (Aspas), held a business roundtable on Tuesday (29), focusing on boosting the local economy.

The event presented to retail sector representatives a selection of products from Pará that are not yet part of supermarket portfolios, aiming to encourage the inclusion of these items in the major supermarket chains in Pará. The roundtable mobilized representatives from companies, supermarket owners, and leaders from the commercial sector.

According to Sedeme, the action seeks to strengthen commercial relations between retail entrepreneurs and small and medium producers who use inputs cultivated in Pará. The goal is to promote regional economic development and expand market opportunities for these entrepreneurs.

During the meeting, participants were able to closely observe the productive potential of local companies, with a focus on the segments of food, beverages, herbal medicines, cosmetics, and aromatherapy.

The Secretary of State for Economic Development, Mining and Energy, Paulo Bengtson, participated in the business roundtable; alongside the president of Aspas, Jorge Portugal; the vice president, Fernando Yamada; the director of Energy at Sedeme, Mauro Bastos; and entrepreneurs and executives from the supermarket sector.

In the program, entrepreneurs presented their products dynamically, with up to three minutes to showcase their solutions to potential business partners. Each presentation highlighted aspects such as sustainable cultivation practices, production processes, production capacity, time in the market, and the number of families involved, among other relevant points.

Plans and Programs – The head of Sedeme, Paulo Bengtson, emphasized the importance of strategic partnerships for the valorization and commercialization of genuinely Pará products, highlighting the fundamental role of Aspas as an ally in this process.

According to him, collaboration with the Pará Supermarkets Association strengthens the connection between local producers and the retail market, expanding business opportunities and visibility for regional enterprises.

Bengtson also highlighted the granting of tax incentives as one of the main catalysts for attracting new businesses to the State. These incentives include subsidies for the establishment of enterprises, expansion, diversification, and acquisition of capital goods aimed at the industrial process of already established companies.

He emphasized that, in 2024, 34 companies established in Pará benefited from the incentives, resulting in significant investments in the State.

“Our goal is to stimulate the verticalization of production chains, add value to local production, foster the economy, and establish new commercial partnerships directly with producers, contributing to income and job generation in the state,” said the secretary.

The president of Aspas, Jorge Portugal, reinforced the association's partnership with the Government of Pará, through Sedeme, and reiterated the entity's commitment to promoting the development of the sector, ensuring the quality of products and the excellence of services provided to consumers.

“Today we are gathered to present the economic potential of Pará products. I wish everyone excellent opportunities and good business,” he said.

At the same time, the event brings together entrepreneurs and executives from the supermarket sector, which significantly expands the possibilities for partnerships and closing good deals.”
