The construction of the third Integrated Riverine Base for Public Security, named Baixo Tocantins, is 65% complete. Soon, the state government will strengthen public security actions in the river network of the Baixo Tocantins Integration Region.

The Base is being built at a shipyard in the Icoaraci district, belonging to Belém, and will be installed at Furo do Capim, in the rural area of the municipality of Abaetetuba. The work is being carried out by the State Secretariat for Public Security and Social Defense (Segup), representing an investment of approximately R$10 million.

The head of Segup, Ualame Machado, emphasizes the importance of investments in security strategies for the extensive river network of Pará.

The secretary informs that "we have already reached 65% construction of the new integrated riverine base 'Baixo Tocantins', which will be close to the municipalities of Abaetetuba and Barcarena, so that we can reinforce not only the entrance of the Tocantins River but also the proximity to Vila do Conde. This is a strategy that has been successful in Marajó, with the Antônio Lemos Base, and in Baixo Amazonas, with the Candiru Base. Now, the third base will complete the strategy of monitoring our rivers with the Baixo Tocantins Base. It is another delivery from the state government that will strengthen not only oversight but mainly the fight against drug trafficking, arms trafficking, and illicit activities throughout the region."

The investment aims to strengthen security and oversight strategies in the region, ensuring more tranquility for riverside residents living in the area and for all who use the river network for passenger and cargo transport. The Base will also reinforce the fight against crime on routes used by criminal groups.

*Final phase* - The construction has reached the stage of adjustments on the main floating structure and the intermediate floats that will assist in supporting the river area, in addition to the articulated walkways that will provide access to the Base for people and vessels. These services are necessary for the structure to receive painting, internal finishing, cladding, and installation of water, sewage, and electrical networks.

Another service front is at Furo do Capim, with the construction of a port with an access terminal. The structure of the new Integrated Base includes a reception area, a room for recording occurrences, offices for team meetings, dormitories, bathrooms, a kitchen, and a monitoring room, as well as two temporary cells and intermediate floating structures.
